Lourdes Maria Ciccone, from Madonna’s daughter to a new style icon

Lourdes Maria Ciccone Leon, known simply as Lola, was born famous. The first daughter of Madonna and her then partner Carlos Manuel Leon, she was born in Los Angeles in October 1996 and today, at the age of 27, seems destined to follow in her mother’s footsteps and conquer the fashion system and the music world (?).

In her early childhood Lourdes attended the French school, the Lycée Francais de New York, learning about different cultures and languages including French, Spanish and Italian. She went on to study at the High School of Performing Arts, where she graduated in 2014, and later studied Performing Arts at the University of Michigan.

Despite growing up in a very special environment, Lourdes has been accustomed to sharing and respect from an early age. Until a few years ago, Madonna’s very young daughter also enjoyed being out of the spotlight. She has four siblings: Rocco, Mercy and David Banda, Madonna’s children, then Meeka, son of her father Carlos.

One of Lola’s first appearances was in 2003, as a guest on the Oprah Winfrey Show, then in 2005 she participated in the documentary I’m Going to Tell You a Secret about Madonna’s Re-Invention world tour. In 2009 Lourdes participated in Madonna: Celebration – The Video Collection, a musical synopsis of Madonna’s career, and in the same year she also took part in the MTV Video Music Awards.

This year, Madonna‘s daughter made her debut as a singer by releasing the video clip of her debut single Lock&Key, under the pseudonym Lolahol.

Besides following in her mother’s footsteps in the world of music, Lourdes has proved herself – especially in recent years – to be a style icon. Everyone still remembers the Queen of Pop’s almost 30-year-old appearance in the iconic Jean-Paul Gaultier-designed bullet bra. Today, the daughter re-interprets her very own version by ‘parading’ in one of Mugler‘s latest videos, in which current creative director Casey Cadwallader has involved some of the most pop faces of the moment such as Bella Hadid, Chloë Sevigny, Shalom Harlow and Amber Valletta.

The fashion world seems to love the very young Lola, perhaps ever since she got her first cover in the September Issue of Vogue America 2021. Or remember when Donatella Versace let her walk the catwalk during Milan Fashion Week? But it was Rihanna of all people who believed in Lourdes, choosing her to star in her successful lingerie show for Savage x Fenty.
