Zusammenfassung

An 40 Femurköpfen mit einer Arthrosis deformans (Präpariersaalmaterial) werden Osteophyten röntgenologisch und histologisch untersucht. Die Analyse der Spongiosastruktur sowie der Knorpelbedeckung unterstützt die Auffassung, daß die Osteophyten einer Druckbeanspruchung unterliegen. Die funktionelle Bedeutung wird in einer Beeinflussung der Größe der Gelenkbeanspruchung gesehen. Für eine Zugbeanspruchung der Osteophyten gibt es keine morphologischen Hinweise.

Abstract

Osteophytes of forty femoral heads with degenerative arthritis (dissecting room material) are investigated histologically and roentgenologically. The analysis of the covering cartilage and the cancellous bone structure supports the view that osteophytes are subject to pressing forces. It is discussed that osteophytes have an influence on the degree of stress in the joint. There are no morphological indications of a traction force acting upon the osteophytes.
