The Congo Tetra has been a popular fish for many years and it is an excellent addition to a community of medium sized peaceful fishes. The Congo Tetra is a shoaling fish and will only do well and look its best if it is kept in groups in medium to large aquaria. The fish has no specific requirements and although it is quite happy in harder water, over the longer term it is best kept in soft-medium water. Good water quality and low nitrates are also required for continual good health. Open swimming spaces are preferred whilst as the fish can be a little timid and easily spooked, hiding spots are recommended.
