    Some new pics of my male and one of my female thick-lipped gouramis. They're beautiful fish and have matured and coloured up really nicely.

    WOW! These are extreamly stunning pictures and the fish too.
    but can i ask? these are called thick liped Gouramis but also know as "wild gouramis?"
    and they are like 10x faster then other gouramis?
    Cos I remembered that I wanted to get some from Petstop at one stage but was concerned
    about the speed that they travel in the tank.

    Thanx BBQ, they're a mission to photograph cause they're quite shy and seem to think my camera's lens is a sniper rifle ;)

    I think these are the wild colouring of the thick-lipped gourami (Trichogaster/Colisa labiosa). They're a bit smaller than my pearl gouramis but quite a bit more shy and when startled they do dart quite quickly. in my community tank they're peaceful and tend to hang out in the thicker planted areas.

    Also having a pair in my community tank and hardly do see them. If I'm sitting dead still for quite some time before my tank they will come out, but the first human movement they notice they speed up like turbo charged rocktes to their hiding place between my amazon swords. Just love them to pieces and they are very peaceful.

    @Anine,
    Great photos.

    I have had these in the past, and found them to be very shy. Every time I so much as went near the tank, they used to dash off and hide behind some plants.

    What lovely colours! If I was fond of gouramis I'd definitely go for these! Gouramis are not really for me though - that, and they'd be eaten in my big tank.

    @BBQ - I have seen the Giant Gouramis and if I had the space I probably would own one, but I have my work cut out for me when my saddle bichir outgrows the 280L. I don't have room for more big fish :nuts:

    Too bad! No more space to add any.
    There are always new trends but not enough tanks.
    As matter of fact, think fish room wouldn't help.
    Wonder if a vacent warehouse with 200sq would help?
