Overview

The ORA® Captive-Bred Premium Picasso Percula Clownfish is an exceptional and highly-sought-after variant of the Percula Clownfish. The Picasso variant occurs naturally in the Solomon Islands and Papua New Guinea however it is extremely hard to find. ORAs strain of Picasso Percula Clownfish originated in 2004 from a single wild male from the Solomon Islands, which they paired with a typical Onyx female. In subsequent years ORA has added additional wild-collected Picasso Percula Clownfish into their breeding program. Most Percula Clownfish in the industry can be traced back to ORAs breeding program.

ORA® Captive-Bred Premium Picasso Percula Clownfish are specimens of superior quality that are hand-selected for their uniqueness. These astounding fish exhibit even greater white coverage than the ORA Picasso Percula Clownfish. ORA’s experienced graders look for premium features such as extra stripes or markings that have been recognized as desirable patterns on the face and head as well as always considering the oddness and rarity of the striping to ensure each ORA Premium Picasso Percula Clownfish is a unique specimen. Only an extremely small percentage of offspring qualify as ORA Premium Picasso Percula Clownfish.

Captive-bred fish have a unique advantage over wild-harvested species, as they are generally very hardy and more accustomed to conditions found in the home aquarium. Therefore, captive-bred fishes make a great choice for novices and seasoned aquarists alike.

The ORA® Captive-Bred Premium Picasso Percula Clownfish is easy to breed in the home aquarium. The females will be the largest of the pair and the two fish will usually stay close to each other in the aquarium. Clownfish are egg layers and will deposit the eggs on a flat surface and defend the eggs from other tank mates. The eggs will normally hatch in 8-11 days depending on the water temperature. The fry must be reared in a separate aquarium on a diet of rotifers followed by baby brine shrimp.

The diet of the ORA Premium Picasso Percula Clownfish consists of almost any meaty food items and herbivore preparations.
