These are similar to Phyllidia varicosa but differ a bit in the often broken dorsal ridges separated by meandering black bands, and the wider black blotches dripping from dorsal black bands to the margins. The same species is figured in Gosliner et al (2018) as Phyllidia sp. 6, although it remains possible that they are simply variations of P. varicosa. These have been found at subtidal sites such as Pupukea and Makua.
