ABSS chief financial officer parts ways with district amid budget issues

Kim McVey leaves the district amid, what the district considers, a budget crisis.

ALAMANCE COUNTY, N.C. — The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) for Alamance-Burlington School System (ABSS) has parted ways with the district, according to the Superintendent Dr. Dain Butler.

Kim McVey served as the CFO for two years and as of Sunday, she is no longer with the district.

In the transition period, Deputy Superintendent Lowell Rogers will oversee finances, Butler wrote in a statement.

He said the district is currently working with the Department of Public Instruction (DPI) and the North Carolina Association of School Business Officials (NCASBO) to hire an interim to finalize the budget for the next fiscal year.
