Selena Gomez has created a rare thing with Rare Beauty—a cosmetics line with an ethos that feels authentic to its founder, products that perform, and a legion of fans that worship its every launch. While other celebrity-founded brands have struggled, Rare’s appeal only seems to grow.

Until now, the brand was mostly focused on makeup—gorgeous glossy lip oils, beautifully pigmented liquid eyeshadows, and a range of liquid blushes that have achieved cult-like status. But today, Gomez is expanding Rare into a range of body products with a decidedly self-care slant.

Called Find Comfort, the 4-piece collection includes a Body & Hair Fragrance Mist, a Hydrating Body Lotion and Hand Cream, and a Stop & Soothe Aromatherapy Pen. “I’ve always found comfort in creating rituals,” Gomez says. “When I get out of the bath or shower, I try to take a moment to myself and I fragrances and textures have been really inspiring me lately.”

Gomez is giving fans a sneak peek at the collection on RareBeauty.com today (you can join the waitlist now), and Find Comfort will be released on the Sephora app on December 18th and then Sephora.com and Rarebeauty.com on December 19th. I had the enviable task of trying the line in advance of its official launch and I’m a fan: The products feel purposeful and luxurious, even though the most expensive one is just $28.

What I liked about the Rare Beauty Find Comfort line

So, what can you expect from Find Comfort? Let’s start with the packaging: A desaturated mauve tone is a hallmark of all four pieces. It's the kind of color that automatically puts you at ease. And each item has been thoughtfully created using 97% post-consumer recycled plastic. Most of the outer packaging has a matte-like feel, making it easier to grip and less likely to slide out of your lotioned-up hands.

Scent also plays a huge part in the vibe of the collection—no surprise since it’s well-established that scent and overall wellbeing are deeply connected. Gomez worked with renowned French perfumer Jérôme Epinette, who has designed scents for brands like Byredo, Atelier Cologne, and Sol de Janeiro, on the aroma, and the results are divine. A crowd-pleasing blend of tonka bean, vetiver, jasmine petals, and lemon zest envelops you like a “warm hug,” Gomez says. “I wanted something that was a little bit woodsy but also had a softness to it.”

The result is pleasant, no overpowering, and intriguingly familiar—you’ll feel like you’ve smelled this before but won’t be able to pinpoint where.

Here's what I thought of each product in Rare Beauty’s Fine Comfort line

Let’s start with the body lotion: I loved the nourishing texture—not quite a lotion, not quite a butter—because it feels hydrating without leaving skin uncomfortably slick. It’s infused with a blend of skin-friendly ingredients such as niacinamide, peach flower extract, and naturally de-stressing ashwaganda. This is a lotion I’d actually use—and I’m not someone who uses body lotion.

Next up is the hand cream—one of my personal favorites of the line. All the raves about the body lotion’s texture apply here, but with one interesting twist—literally. The cap is never fully removed (so it can’t get lost, maddeningly, in your purse); instead, you simply rotate it in a clockwise motion to dispense the cream. Then you can use its ergonomic shape (sloped and tapered at the top) to massage the product into your hands, relieving any pent-up tension. Start at the fleshly pad near your thumb and then run it in between the bones of each finger. It’s a genius way to reinforce that Find Comfort is about more than just beauty. This is a line that seeks to melt—or, in this case, massage—stress away.

Onto the hair and body mist, which is another standout. The scent, as I’ve described above, is the big draw here. But there are other thoughtful touches that make this extra special (after all, there are plenty of fragrance mists out there). First, it's infused with biotin and contains less alcohol than others, meaning this will strengthen and nurture your hair, not dry it out. Plus, the bottle’s unique design allows you to spritz it on from all angles—yep, right-side up or upside down. My short hair felt wonderfully soft after using it, and Gomez says it was designed to freshen longer strands from ambient odors. (“Perfect for after a hibachi meal,” she says.).

Lastly, the purse-friendly aromatherapy pen is the perfect little pick-me-up. It operates using a click mechanism that dispenses the fragranced gel onto a curved applicator head, allowing you to apply the product directly to your pulse points or anywhere else you’d like to slather it on. This item has a different smell from the others—one that’s more grounded in aromatherapeutic benefits. Its mix of peppermint, lavender, and tonka bean give it a soothing, spa-like aroma that I plan on using at night before bed. It’s also one that enhances, rather than competes with, the scent of the other products. A match made in scent heaven if you ask me.

The bottom line: Is Rare Beauty’s Find Comfort line worth it?

That’s a resounding yes, from me. As with everything Gomez has done thus far with Rare Beauty, Find Comfort succeeds because of the thoughtful, user-friendly touches, elevating it beyond the standard body-care offerings of its competition.

And the price—the price—cannot be beat. You can snag the entire line for less than $100, making the entire process of purchasing and using Find Comfort an anxiety-free experience. That’s what I call beauty with benefits.
