Unique Copella arnoldi fish!

By MindStick

Copella arnoldi, popularly known as the splash tetra or splashing tetra, is a peaceful schooling fish found in South America's Amazon basin.

They are small fish with a slender body, silvery scales & dark lateral line, with brightly colored males with red fins and yellow belly.

Males select favourable sites with overhanging foliage, lure females, and leap out of the water, which is a unique reproductive behaviour.

Then the female lays her eggs on a leaf, and the male fertilizes them, repeating the process until all the eggs are laid.

Male fish protect eggs from predators & fungus, fan water, and keep them oxygenated. Eggs hatch within days, and fry fall back into the water.
