New Video: Zorkkk - Ausnahmezustand

Who or what is Zorkkk? That’s exactly what I asked myself when I came across the name on Instagram a few days ago. What’s actually hiding behind it - I myself barely believed it possible.

Whether Nevada Tan or Panik - band and fanbase have already been through a lot. The first performance in front of a large public, rapid ascent to a BRAVO and VIVA band, huge legal battle at the beginning of 2008, back to the old band name.

A great sixth place at Bundesvision Song Contest 2008, godparents of a song for the Kika competition “Dein Song” and the win of godchild Joshua. It’s in my blood, everything’s going to be fine. Or not.

The shock came in November 2009: The tour at the end of the year would be the last one together. Even I took a pilgrimage to Berlin in tears and will never forget my final Panik concert in Berlin’s Frannz Club.

Timo and David bring out the song “Es ist Zeit” together, which moved the worldwide fanbase to tears. Could that have really been the end of the band? To top it all off, there was very soon a new band with the name “Nevada Tan” provoked by the right holders, which obviously aggravated fans of the true band. The ultimate mortal blow?

Time passed. Various rumors sprouted again and again and were nipped in the bud. While Timo Sonnenschein and David Bonk supported people like singer LaFee in songwriting and production, and began BonkSonnenschein, and fueled the community with hope for a short time with the song “Die Flut”, singer Frank Ziegler dabbled at a secondary career as an actor in the German telenovela “Hand aufs Herz” as Bodo Wilhelmsen and as Danny in the German cinematic film “Groupies bleiben nicht zum Frühstück.” As part of the film, he also lent his singing voice to leading actor Kostja Ullmann, whose actual voice was mixed with Ziegler’s in the end.

On the other hand, bassist Christian Linke ended up in the USA - initially to work on his musical solo career. But fate had a different plan for him and so he landed at the developer for the worldwide-successful computer game League of Legends and has been responsible for the game’s music and countless marketing videos since.

The rumors got louder and louder through the years, and it’s Timo and David themselves who attracted attention through countless Instagram throwbacks, studio excerpts, and hints. In February 2016, a new Instagram account was created, nearly unnoticed. For the time being, there are just hints of a bloody, gloomy music video on zorkkk.official.

The deciding evidence followed shortly before the video release. Timo called the child by name. Suddenly, it went quick - the video premiere and release via iTunes and Spotify today.

The thing’s called Zorkkk, spontaneously reminds of videos like “[Revolution]” and “Neustart” through its dark atmosphere and facial disguises, sounds like old times and somehow also new. Timo, David, and Frank are recognizable in the video to “Ausnahmezustand.” The hints speak for themselves: “Are you ready for a panic attack?” - “State of emergency - it’s the revolution!

We’re curious, of course, what’s still to come and hope for a long-term comeback. This news is kind of already one of the best of the past few years, because the loss of Panik left a large hole in the German music landscape that no band has been able to close.
