OUR PROMISE

Helping patients achieve spinal fusion success

Spinal fusion can be a life-changing procedure. But for many patients, it can often lead to a challenging recovery journey.
We’re here to help more of those journeys lead to a successful fusion and a healthy, active life – starting with bone growth therapy that helps promote the body’s own healing processes.

OUR TECHNOLOGY

Advancing treatment in bone growth stimulation

The ActaStim System is intentionally designed to help maximize the healing potential of capacitive coupling. It’s purpose-built to increase fusion success and enhance compliance.
Preclinical studies suggest that applying electrical stimulation can help the body recruit and use calcium ions to promote bone growth – and a successful fusion.3 The capacitive coupling signal ActaStim-S sends to the fusion site helps mimic this natural process by opening cell membrane channels that allow calcium ions to enter.
This results in up-regulation of bone cell proliferation, an essential process in both growth and repair.3,4

TESTIMONIALS

What surgeons & patients say

For your patients
& your practice

A testimonial from Heather S, a patient who used the ActaStim bone growth stimulation system to help her heal after a spinal fusion.

“I recently had two lumbar spinal fusion surgeries. I’m 47, and I had major concerns about bone growth and recovery time. My spinal surgeon recommended the ActaStim-S spine fusion stimulator to aid in speed of recovery. My x-rays have shown better bone growth than expected because I’m using the stimulator — and the product is easy to use.”

A testimonial from Dr. Stephen Hochschuler, a surgeon who prescribes the ActaStim bone growth stimulation system to help patients heal after spinal fusion.

“The combination of medicine and personalized data is the direction patient care is headed. Proactive patient involvement is key — and motivation and participation are invaluable. When patients see the data firsthand and can have more control of their own care, it’s a huge advantage.”

A testimonial from Bradley P, a patient who used the ActaStim bone growth stimulation system to help him heal after a spinal fusion.

“I use my ActaStim-S bone growth stimulator every day, I just put it in my pocket, the device is not intrusive, and super easy to wear. My neighbor had a spine fusion months before I did, and he got an older technology that was a big cage that went around his entire mid-section. He said he tried to wear it a few days and gave up. When I showed him the ActaStim device in my pocket, he couldn’t believe how small it was.”

A testimonial from Juliann M, a patient who used the ActaStim bone growth stimulation system to help her heal after a spinal fusion.

“I had a difficult case, and my doctor prescribed ActaStim-S to help increase my chances for a successful fusion. As a retired nurse, I know I need to follow my doctor’s directions, so I use the device around 23 hours a day and have had no problem keeping that up. I use the app to track my progress — it’s nice to see how activity and pain levels change. Almost four months out, I’m walking more, and my husband can tell I’m doing so much better.”

“The app allows me to keep records of pain levels and log information I want to share with my doctors, which is very beneficial when going through a long-term recovery. The records help me keep track of progress and setbacks, and they provide a single source of data. When you see multiple medical providers, having details logged in one place helps to keep things simple.”

A testimonial from Dr. Reginald Davis, a surgeon who prescribes the ActaStim bone growth stimulation system to help patients heal after spinal fusion.

“I like the entire concept of a digital app synced with the device. Most importantly, I need to know how compliant my patient is with my recommended therapy. Pain readings are like vital signs for recovery. A patient’s pain level documented in real-time corresponding to activity level is so much more valuable than when provided at the appointment by memory. Having this level of data is unprecedented.”

A testimonial from Robert M, a patient who used the ActaStim bone growth stimulation system to help him heal after a spinal fusion.

“The Theragen team has been outstanding — very prompt and excellent follow-up! I’ve been using the treatment for almost five months without interference in my daily life. The app has helped me stay on top of my therapy with reminders. I enter pain scores regularly and journal to remember how each day went, and I plan on showing my doctor the data documenting my consistent use. It is nice to be able to look back and see how far I’ve come.”

A testimonial from Dr. Michael H Winer, a surgeon who prescribes the ActaStim bone growth stimulation system to help patients heal after spinal fusion.

“Seeing their activity level and entering their pain levels keeps patients engaged and using the therapy, which is super important since combating non-compliance is one of the biggest problems with the older bulky stimulators.”
