On a trip to Vienna in September 2018, I came across a few great little places for real food and other aligned finds. Here we start with my favourite street in Vienna: Kettenbruckengasse.
Henzls Ernte
Gertrude Henzl, the owner of this gorgeous store, heads out to forage each morning and then spends the day in her store creating different culinary delights from her finds. She also runs foraging classes in the summer.

Käseschatztruhe
A great variety of cheeses including many small producers, organic, raw milks, goat, sheep and cow varieties. They also have a few other delicious accompaniments including wine.

Gorgeous farm store with lots of produce from local growers and selected other products from local producers including meats and other pantry goods.

Bananas
Perhaps not directly wellbeing-related, but I love any place that refurbishes and up-cycles as opposed to producing new stuff. This store is full of great mid-century finds.

Other Areas
Babette’s
Herb and spice specialty store with lots of great single herbs and spices and many blends, along with a great variety of cookbooks (in German, just a couple in English). Some of their spices are organic and all are ethically sourced and they work directly with cooperatives and growers to ensure this. The Am Hof location (pictured) has a small cafe, and the Freihausviertel location has a kitchen where they run cooking classes (in German).

Simply Raw Bakery
Great selection of vegan, gluten free, and raw fare. Definitely not cheap, but the raw cheesecake I had was delicious and there were plenty of other amazing options for raw desserts.

Schelato
Organic ice cream with a menu that updates with what’s in season and available - ok, I’ll have an ice cream! In this case mine was pesto flavoured, and absolutely delicious. Schelato have two locations. This was the Schieifmuhlgasse location.
