Magnificent Monumental Art - One of the oldest art forms.

Monumental art includes monuments, architectural ornamentation, public sculpture, and fountains.The imposing and majestic proportions of the monumental sculpture give a sense of power and evoke admiration and wonder and are a symbol for success and prosperity.

1. Ron Mueck - Boy

The Australian artist Ron Mueck’s sculpture Boy has become one of the landmarks of the ARoS Aarhus Art Museum. Measuring 4.5 metres in height and weighing in at 500 kg. Ron Mueck managed to produce an exact copy of reality that stays true to it down to the smallest vein. Somewhere in between real and impossible, this sculpture is a disturbing ode to the human body.

 

2. Louise Bourgeois - Maman

Maman is a bronze, stainless steel, and marble sculpture by the artist Louise Bourgeois. The sculpture, which depicts a spider, is among the world's largest sculptures. It suggests the strength of Bourgeois' mother, with metaphors of spinning, weaving, nurture and protection.

 

3. Jonathan Borofsky - The Hammering Man

The Hammering Man represent a laborer at work. Jonathan Borofsky uses a simple outline to express a much more complex reality. This is a series of two dimensional sculptures with a shadow effect depicting the workers throughout the world.

 

4. Antony Gormley - The Angel of the North

Antony Mark David Gormley is a British sculptor. His sculpture The Angel of the North is 21 meters tall and entirely made of steel reflecting the great freedom. This sculpture is the memorial of the miners that lost their lives in the hills beneath Gateshead, UK. It also symbolizes hopes for the future.
