2016 (REDSHIRT SOPHOMORE): Played in 11 games, making one start at left tackle … member of the offensive line that allowed the Eagles to rack up over 400 yards of total offense in back-to-back games against Wagner (490) and Buffalo (400), and over 300 yards five times … did not allow quarterback Patrick Towles to be sacked against Wagner (Sept. 24) and helped BC to a season-high 300 rushing yards, four rushing touchdowns and 42 points versus the Seahawks … blocked for three rushing TDs against Buffalo (Oct. 1).
2015 (REDSHIRT FRESHMAN): Saw action in seven games … member of the offensive line that allowed the Eagles to score eight rushing touchdowns and put up 549 yards of offense against Howard (Sept. 12) … helped the team register over 300 yards of total offense and over 200 rushing yards five times … did not allow a sack against Howard and allowed just one against Wake Forest (Oct. 10).

HIGH SCHOOL: Two-way lineman who was a standout for three varsity seasons for The Westminster School in Atlanta ... earned all-conference honors as a senior in 2013 ... served as team captain - along with Boston College teammates Austin Chapman and Cameron Seward - as a senior tight end/tackle/defensive end at Westminster ... played for head coach Gerry Romberg.
PERSONAL: Samuel Michael Schmal ... earned a degree in marketing major from the Carroll School of Management in May 2018 ... enrolled in graduate school with a focus on leadership and administration ... Sam and his two younger brothers, Nick and Matthew, are the children of Sandy and Michael Schmal.
