What is a Maximum Postcard?

In philately a maximum card (also known as a maxi-card, or maxicard) is a postcard with a postage stamp placed on the picture side of the card where the stamp and card match or are in maximum concordance (similarity). The cancellation or postmark is related to the image on the front of the card and the stamp. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maximaphily

We’d like to send a sincere thank you to Marci Jarvis of The Cats on Stamps Study Unit (COSSU) for alerting us to the opportunity to create maximum postcards this year for Cat’n Around Catskill. Check out their website at https://www.catstamps.info/ A complimentary pdf file of Cat Mews with an article about Cat ‘n Around Catskill can be obtained by emailing: catmews1@yahoo.com.

This is a unique year for stamp collectors to obtain a maximum postcard of their favorite Catskill Cats with the limited edition 2023 Love stamp (that mirrors the HOCA cat logo) and have it cancelled by a Cat’n Around Catskill pictorial postmark. Each of this year’s 65 cat statues will have a postcard available FOR SALE.

A second 1¢ stamp will be added to the postcards of “Lynx Kitty” and “Cat on the Rocks” since they are of a similar theme with the stamp. See photos below.
