For documentary purposes the German Federal Archive often retained the original image captions, which may be erroneous, biased, obsolete or politically extreme.
Zentralbild-Biscan Str-Wi. 2.3.1954 Zum 140. Todestag von Karl Friedrich Friesen am 16.3.1954 Karl Friedrich Friesen, Mitarbeiter von Turnvater Jahn und Kampfgenosse von Lützow wurde am 25.9.1784 in Magdeburg geboren. Am 16.3.1814 erlag er einer Verletzung, die er auf einem Streifzug in den Ardennen erhielt.-Das Friesen-Denkmal des Magdeburger Bildhauers Ernst Habs wurde 1893 in Friesens Geburtsstadt aufgestellt. Es zeigt in drei Reliefs wichtige Begebenheiten aus dem Leben Friesens. UBz, Eines der Reliefs, Friesen (Mitte) und Eiselen (links) beraten mit Turnvater Jahn die Gesetze und Ziele der Turnkunst. (Berlin 1810).
