Description

Evocation du modulor près de la porte d'entrée de la Corbusierhaus

De 1942 à 1948, Le Corbusier (1887-1965) a développé un système de mesures connu sous le nom de "Modulor", publié en 1950 puis en 1955. Basé sur le nombre d'or et les séries de Fibonacci, mais utilisant également les dimensions physiques moyennes de l'être humain, le "Modulor" est un ensemble de données utilisées par Le Corbusier dans ses créations architecturales, comme dans l'unité d'habitation.

L'unité d'habitation Corbusierhaus a été construite en 1957.

Sur le même modèle que la Cité Radieuse à Marseille, l'unité d'habitation, devait former un village autonome, pourvu d'une école, de services, de boutiques. Le manque de crédits n'a pas permis de réaliser la totalité du programme.

Le bâtiment, destiné à combattre la pénurie de logements après guerre à Berlin, compte 575 appartements répartis sur 17 étages. Il est à proximité du stade olympique.
