Deutsch: Infotafel vor Haus Berge, aufgestellt im Rahmen der Ausstellung "AufRuhr 1225" des Westfälischen Landesmuseums Herne - LWL-Museum für Archäologie (Gemeinschaftsprojekt des Landschaftsverbands Westfalen-Lippe und der Initiative Ruhr.2010) von Februar bis November 2010, die u.a. mittelalterliche Burganlagen im Ruhr- und Emschergebiet vorstellte.
Transkribierter Text der Infotafel: (Zitat:) Haus BergeDie Entstehungszeit von Haus Berge als Besitz des kölnischen Gefolgsmanns Dietrich von Vlerike reicht möglicherweise bis in das 13. Jahrhundert zurück. Bereits um 1300 fiel das Haus an die Familie von Berge aus dem Geschlecht von Strünkede, die es bis 1433 als Stammsitz nutzte. Einen Bedeutungszuwachs erfuhr Haus Berge durch die Vereinigung mit dem benachbarten Adelssitz Westerholt im 18. Jahrhundert. Die nachfolgenden Baumaßnahmen gaben der spätbarocken dreiflügeligen Anlage auf der annähernd quadratischen Hauptburginsel ihr heutiges Aussehen. Eine Aufmessung im Jahr 1926 konnte zeigen, dass ein Teil des Hauptgebäudes als frühneuzeitlicher Wehrbau wohl aus der Zeit um 1530 stammt. Noch bis 1784 war ein Rundturm vorhanden, dessen Überrest wohl in der runden Bastion an der Südwestecke der Burgmauer zu vermuten ist. 1924 wurde Haus Berge von der Stadt Buer gekauft und mitsamt des großflächigen Kunstgartens als Teil eines Grüngürtels um die Stadt wiederhergestellt.
