ITHACA, N.Y. – FloWrestling announced Wednesday that junior Yianni Diakomihalis will join his teammate, Vito Arujau, at the Beat the Streets exhibition on Thursday, September 17. Diakomihalis is set to wrestle 2016 57kg Olympic Champion, Vladimir Khinchegashvili, of Georgia.
 
This is the second consecutive year that Diakomihalis will wrestle at Beat the Streets, after defeating India's Bajrang Punia, 10-8, at last year's event. Diakomihalis has accomplished a lot during his young senior level career, winning gold at the 2019 US Open, the 2019 Grand Prix Yasar Dogu, the 2019 Waclaw Ziolkowski Memorial and the 2020 Pan American Championships. Like Arujau, Diakomihalis has also secured a spot at the US Olympic Trials.
 
Khinchegashvili is a two-time Olympic medalist, taking silver in 2012 and winning gold in 2016. Since his gold medal performance, Khinchegashvili has moved up to 65kg where he aims to recapture some of that same success. Most recently, Khinchegashvili took bronze at the 2018 European Championships and silver at the 2019 European Games.
 
In August, Beat the Streets announced that it would conduct its annual fundraising event as a virtual telethon, with live matches held outdoors and no fans in attendance. Beat the Streets continues its tradition of high-level competition held in iconic venues, raising millions of dollars to support local youth wrestling programs and empower young people in New York City. Beat the Streets raised $1,300,000 during the benefit in 2019. Past events have taken place in spots such as the U.S.S Intrepid aircraft carrier, Times Square, Grand Central Terminal, the Seaport District and the Hulu Theater in Madison Square Garden.
 
All matches will be held with the safety of the participants as the first priority, following state and local health and government restrictions as well as the USA Wrestling Return to Events Guidelines.

The virtual telethon will be free to view and will include both live and recorded content featuring prominent athletes such as Helen Maroulis, Jordan Burroughs, Ben Askren, Henry Cejudo and Justin Gaethje, however fans will need a subscription to FloWrestling in order to view the live men's and women's freestyle matches.
