"Freelancer" - ein umstrittener, (leicht) negativ angehauchter Begriff im Deutschen. Dahinter stecken hoch qualifizierte, eloquente, anpassungsfähige Menschen. Und sie "freelancen" weil sie's drauf haben, boom.

Treating users more like actual humans as opposed to walking wallets. Check out what is now illegal to do to users in 🇮🇳 I recognised couple of patterns e.g „Confirmshaming“ when I had to confirm I don’t won’t to leave a tip while paying for my 🥙 Shame me into leaving a tip (regardless of my experience) why won’t you.

No More Evil Design Tricks in India The Indian Government just banned 12 common tricky design moves in products. Dark Design Patterns are tricks that cheat users through misleading interfaces or by making it unnecessarily hard to do what users want, like cancelling a subscription. It's an evil move! The case isn't settled yet, so we're unsure if Amazon's tricks are illegal. Meanwhile, on November 30, 2023, the Government of India made new rules to stop sneaky design tricks. They're saying a big no-no to these tricks that some companies use. Now that these evil tricks are illegal in a big country like India, let's hope this stops more companies from using these nasty moves. I've always been against these evil practices. Let's take a closer look at the 12 shady moves these regulations aim to tackle: 1. False Urgency: Ever felt rushed to buy something online? That's the false urgency trick. They make you think it's your last chance, but it's just a mind game. 2. Basket Sneaking: Imagine adding stuff to your cart without asking. Not cool, right? That's what basket sneaking is—quietly increasing your bill. 3. Confirmshaming: It uses fear, shame, or guilt to push users into buying something or continuing a subscription. It's all about commercial gains by messing with consumer choices. Confirmshaming plays on your emotions to make you hit that purchase button. 4. Forced Action: Want a product? Well, first, buy something else. Forced action makes you jump through hoops to get what you really want. 5. Subscription Trap: Cancelling a subscription should be easy, right? With the subscription trap—they make it a puzzle to keep you paying. 6. Interface Interference: Messing with what you see on a website? That's interface interference, and it's all about tricking your eyes. 7. Bait and Switch: You thought you were getting a deal, but surprise! It's a different (and usually pricier) product. Classic bait and switch. 8. Drip Pricing: Imagine finding out about hidden fees only after hitting "buy." Drip pricing keeps the real cost in the shadows until the last minute. I'm seeing this a lot these days. 9. Disguised Advertisement: Ads pretending to be regular content? Sneaky, right? Disguised advertisements blur the line between info and marketing. 10. Nagging: Ever been annoyed into saying "yes"? Nagging bombards you until you give in. It's annoying and a bit pushy. 11. Trick Question: Confusing language designed to make you click where they want you to. Trick questions are like puzzles you didn't sign up for. 12. Billing Surprise: You sign up for something free, and suddenly, your bank account takes a hit. Billing surprises happen when they quietly start charging you. How can we tackle these? We've got three defenders against these evil design tricks: 1. Ethical UX designers saying no 2. Public shaming for shady companies 3. Regulations that can slap fines on the worst offenders Let's keep the digital world fair and square!

Here’s something that’s really cool at Malt: House Swaps! Employees looking to visit a city where Malt has offices can hop into our lively "house swaps" channel on Slack. They post their travel plans and voilà! Awesome colleagues from the destination city respond with their own availability for a house swap. 🏠 For example, Valeria based in Berlin, wanted a taste of croissants and the city of lights, so she found a kindred spirit in Paris, and they swapped homes for three weeks! Another Malter, Maria, felt like having some Belgian waffles in Brussels, and, well you get the idea… Join Malt and write your own house-swapping story!

1wGuter Punkt. "Freelancer" ist ein meinem Sprachgebrauch dabei nicht negativ besetzt. Es handelt sich dabei um eine selbstbewusste, professionell arbeitende und freiheitsliebende Person, die ihren Klienten nach Kräften dient (denn nur dann kann man als Freelancer langfristig erfolgreich sein).
