Doune Castle located in Stirling, Scotland is a 14th-century stronghold originally built by Robert Stewart, the Duke of Albany. This grandiloquent castles walls are made of stone, and its roof is crenelated and set with corbels. It also features a massive gate house with four towers, which dominate the Sherrifmuir landscape and the castle's 60-feet tall Grand Hall. For Game of Thrones fans, Doune Castle was used as Winterfell Castle in the series. The castle's grounds feature a herb garden, with a large collection of herbs, vegetables, and flowers. It also has a large open space with a pond, making it perfect for a a walk or a picnic. The castle is open to the public from April to September, and offers guided tours.
