Stefani Wendelschaefer was promoted to assistant coach in May of 2022. Wendelschaefer earned her title as assistant coach after spending the last season as a volunteer assistant for the team.

"We are super excited to promote Stef to full-time assistant coach," said Holloway. "Within the first month of her arrival at NC State, I knew she was going to be a great fit for our student-athletes, our staff and our program's culture. Her hard work, dedication to our student-athletes' welfare and eagerness to learn did not go unnoticed. Stef has impressed me with her character, willingness to go the extra mile and her desire to make a positive impact on our program's development, growth and vision. Our student-athletes have connected with her more and more each day, and she is the perfect fit to who we are as a program and as a family."

Since joining NC State's staff ahead of the 2021-22 season, Wendelschaefer has played an important role in all aspects of the Wolfpack swimming and diving programs. This past year, the Pack men won the 2022 ACC Championships team title, and both teams went on to tie program-best finishes at the NCAA Championships. The men secured a team trophy and podium spot with their fourth-place finish at the meet, and the women placed fifth in the nation, marking the top combined program finishes in the nation.

Wendelschaefer had a hand in coaching NC State to a total of 67 All-America citations this past season, and she was a member of the staff that coached the Wolfpack to the 100-yard backstroke national title sweeps at the 2022 NCAA Championships. In addition to the Pack's team win on the men's side at the ACC Championships, Wendelschaefer was a part of 11 event titles at the conference meet this past season.

Prior to her time in Raleigh, Wendelschaefer spent time as an assistant coach at Grove City College and Washington & Jefferson College. A 2017 Grove City graduate, Wendelschaefer helped her alma mater win the Presidents' Athletic Conference titles in men's and women's swimming and diving during the spring of 2020.

As a student-athlete, she was a part of four-straight conference titles with Grove City from 2014 to 2017. She co-captained the 2016-17 squad and earned three total letters while on the team.

Wendelschaefer earned a Bachelor's degree in Exercise Science and also completed her Master's degree in Exercise Science and Health Promotion.
