If it's fall in New York, then it's time to put on a wizarding gown and grab a turkey leg—the 33rd Annual Medieval Festival is returning Sunday, October 1st.
The free celebration of ye olde days of fair maidens, merry friars and unicorns takes place in Fort Tryon Park, which will be transformed into what the Parks Department calls an "era-themed market town decorated with bright banners and processional flags" where "festival-goers are treated to authentic period music, dance, magic, and minstrels, as well as jousters, jugglers and jesters." Around 75,000 are expected to enjoy storytelling, falconry demos, jousting with four knights on horsebacks, crafts, live music and, of course, turkey legs. And everyone is encouraged to dress up!
Update: There will also be a collection for items to donate to Puerto Rico. The drive's organizer is teaming up with VAMOS4PR and is also collecting funds (proceeds will go directly to the Hurrican Maria Organization)—they will be located right near the entrances.
