Well, this is it from us. From me.
I want to say “for now!” or, “until next time!”, but I do not know that that future - the future I wish for, will come to pass.
Over the past couple of years we’ve been trying to tell you a story that we made together. Us, The Shrieking Wizard Co., a collection of people battered by the world. Our story is one in which despite of ourselves and our experiences, we repeatedly chose the hopeful path.
An undertaking like this is in and of itself, a hopeful endeavour. Any kind of creation is. How could it not be - when you make something you take a piece of yourself and offer it to the world. All you can do is hope that it treats that piece of you with kindness - and you did. Overwhelmingly so. I am so grateful to you for that.
It is in these dark moments that hope can seem like a hard choice. You cannot see the future, there is no light in window to guide you in from the foggy night. But it is now, I would argue, that choosing hope is the only choice. It is the human choice. If you take anything from High Hopes Low Rolls, let it be that - let it be you, choosing hope when it seems like the fool’s choice.
And I will do the same. In this moment when the world seems lost to me, I will choose hope, and I will say confidently:
This is it from us, for now. We will see you again.
