In the indictment of the July 15 coup attempt prepared by the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor, the putschist generals were frequently in contact with US military officials.

It has revealed that Colonel John Walke, Commander of Incirlik Base of the US and the putschist Brigadier General Bekir Ercan Van were side by side in the warmest hours in the July 15 coup attempt.

In the indictment of Akıncı Base prepared by the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor, the putschist generals were linked to the USA. Name of Colonel John Walker, the commander of the US in Incirlik, come forward in the indictment, who has scored massacres in Afghanistan and Iraq.

Details were given related to F16's fuel requirement was met by planes from İncirlik on the night of the coup attempt, “Three tanker aircrafts took off from Incirlik, two of them on Ankara and one near Afyon supported air refueling 10 times to warplanes those participated in the armed attempt, and they were found to support knowingly and willingly to those warplanes low-flying on Ankara and Istanbul and bombed civilians and public officials.”

Airborne Lieutenant Colonel Halil İbrahim Özdemir, who ordered the F16s to take off from the night in Incirlik, described the living that night in his expression:

“At about 5:00 am when the aircraft in the filament was ready for departure, I went to the Alarm Reaction Center to organize, inspect, and be there. The planes were not token off yet. While waiting at the door, Brigadier General Bekir Ercan Van came to me. He took me and an Airplane Maintenance Officer, whose name I had never heard before, in his car. At that time there was a US officer in uniform who I thought was John Walker, which I did not see before. He took us where the planes were. He asked me the name of the pilot of the leading aircraft. I told him it was Lieutenant Orhan Harman. He got off the car, went to the plane, talked to the pilot. I have not heard what they talked about already talking on cable... After this talk of the Base Commander, our planes took off.”

Özdemir said, “When I entered the room of İrfan Admiral, who was appointed as Base Commander on July 18, 2016, pointed out someone whose name was ‘Walker’ on identification tag and asked me ‘Is that the one who talked to the pilot?’. I said, ‘I do not remember exactly, but probably it was this one'.”

Muhammet Emrah Kuzu, the driver of Bekir Ercan Van, who was the son of Zekeriya Kuzu nicknamed “Culvert Admiral” that one tried on the assassination of the President also told about those what happened in Incirlik on July 15th.

In his testimony, Kuzu said that he had taken Bekir Ercan Van to a building belonging to the Americans at the Base as of 08.00, “Shortly afterwards, the Colonel Erhan Gazioğlu also came in. They stayed with the commander after 15 minutes inside. We returned to the headquarters with the commander. We passed on to the commander's office. The commander was in the room. Then he walked out of the room and shut me up, he said lock everywhere. When he left the room, he had a blue bag in his hand. I turned off the lights in his room. I locked the doors. Then Brigadier İrfan Özsert came. Umit Colonel came from behind. They told me to open the door. They looked at the room, checked. The atmosphere was a bit crowded. After half an hour in 40 minutes, Base Commander returned with a staff member. I opened the door, the commander came in. Those who were waiting there also went in. After a while, police officers and the public prosecutor came.”

The imprisoned General Bekir Ercan Van did not hide that he was with John Walker in his statement. With the failure of the coup attempt, Van, who has diverted those who came to arrest him, said he was in talks with John Walker, saying:

“We had a bilateral meeting with American Colonel John Walker, and we were talking about the problems and solution methods that were going on in the course of the coalition operation. As soon as I finished interviewing with Colonel Walker, I said I would invite Colonel Umit. Immediately after the interview, Ümit Colonel came to the office and made the notification.”

The American New York Times wrote that Bekir Ercan Van was seeking asylum from the United States when the coup attempt failed. (ILKHA)
