A:nhaltende D:auerzustände Two Solo Shows by Marion Fink & Eric Meier Opening Friday, April 28th 2023 at 17h00 Exhibition: Saturday, April 29th - Sunday, June 11th 2023 KURFÜRSTENSTRASSE 142, 10785 BERLIN In each show, both Fink and Meier explore the emotions and struggles that we as a society struggle with as we grow and shift through time. For Fink, this exploration takes place in the inner individual as each person wrestles with the hidden truths that shape their world. For Meier, this conflict is a reflection of broader societal shifts in civilization as it cracks to reveal the dehumanizing neglect under the surface, leading to division, extremism and breakdown within society. ERIC MEIER Im Stein Eric Meiers' (*1989 in East Berlin, GDR, grew up in Frankfurt an der Oder) photographs, sculptures and video works show urban spaces and fragments in which signs of post-socialist transformation and the loss of social utopia have inscribed themselves. The photographs become indicators of change that bear witness to both individual mythologies and collective recording or over-forming. Man is mostly absent, but marked by his civilisational traces, ruptures and cracks. Meier's rhetoric is multi-layered, but does not operate covertly. Themes of failure, loss, or social identity are inherent in the work. He exposes the status quo of dealing with urban as well as media public spaces, where dehumanization and neglect is often a repressed part of reality. Meier studied photography at the academy of visual arts in Leipzig where he graduated in 2018 and sculpture at the university of the arts in Berlin. In 2019 he was Meisterschüler with Prof. Heidi Specker. Meier lives and works in Berlin.
