1968, London. Luca is living his 'swinging' years away from duties, while his father wants him to take the reins of the family business. He plots to have him kidnapped and placed in a sanitarium, where the young man undergoes electroshock therapy until 'normalised'. Luca is then made to marry a woman who is actually a psychiatrist hired to turn him into a perfect businessman.

Kleines frivoles und beschwingt eingerahmtes Kunstfilmchen mit unterschwelligem Zunder.
Luca frönt dem Buddhismus, spielt auf der Sitar und möchte unbedingt nach Indien. Zwischendurch gibt er sich den psychedelischen Traum- und Klangwelten hin und macht das worauf er Bock hat. Sehr zum Leidwesen seines Papis der den Spross gerne im eigenen Unternehmen wissen möchte.
Als viele Mittel nix nützen muss der Filius "geheilt" werden, damit er in die gesellschaftlichen Zwänge rein passt und sich fleisig unterordnet. Der alte Herr nämlich steckt tief im steinzeitlichen Konservatismus, hält nix von Veränderungen und zelebriert den Kapitalismus in seiner bizarrsten Form.
Bizarr trifft es hier ganz gut, denn der Film ist herrlich austaffiert und bunt und poltert die angerreicherten Subtextmanöver bzgl. Gesellschaft, individuelle Freiheiten, Wertesysteme…
The style, especially the set-design is dope as fuck. And Claudine Auger is hot as fuck. Unfortunately the movie itself is uneventful and boring as fuck. #Domino is the best Bond Girl. It's a hill worth dying on.
A wholly unique film about a counter-culture son of an Italian businessman who is living the non-adapted, free-spirited life in London but is coerced into coming back to Italy to "become adjusted to society" and follow in the footsteps of his father running the company.
There are some wild ideas in here including a preposterous kidnapping of the son but where things get really interesting is when his father hires a psychoanalyst to essentially brainwash his son into obedience but she is up to no good and once she's gotten a taste of power and control over the son, things get really out of hand.

Hippie comedy! In the vein of King Of Hearts, The Ruling Class, Harold And Maude... but fresh and new to us where those might be stale through over-familiarity. Too bad about the gynocide bits, hope that doesn't spoil it for anybody.
Na also dies ist mal ein sehr schräges Filmchen. Zunächst wähnt man sich in einer "Hippie-Sohn-rebelliert-gegen-Industriellen-Vater" mit einem seltsamen Möchtegern-John-Lennon Sohnemann. Dann wird es mit Einbeziehung der "Psychotechnikerin" langsam zu einem perfiden manipulativen Spiel ihrerseits, nur um dann im letzten Drittel eine Variante des perfekten Verbrechens aufzubauen. Das ganze ist durchtränkt von einem sehr eigenwilligen Humor, der nur selten zum laut loslachen veranlasst, aber irgendwie hat man doch ständig ein kleines Schmunzeln auf den Lippen. Inszeniert ist das alles sehr ruhig, manchmal sogar behäbig, aber immer sehr hübsch in Szene gesetzt, teilweise schon ins Surreale gehend. Ein sehr komisches Filmchen, auf das man sich schon einlassen möchte, ansonsten dürfte man schnell genervt aufgeben.
Il poco più che ventenne Faenza esordisce con questo lungometraggio in cui un suo coetaneo, Luca (Capolicchio) rampollo di industriale (Ferzetti) pensa più ad andare in India o a Londra, piuttosto che dedicarsi alla fabbrichetta di famiglia, finché, dopo varie peripezie, viene incaricata una psicologa (Auger) di rimetterlo sulla retta via.
Un film che si fa manifesto del periodo in cui uscì, il sessantotto appunto, in cui istanze libertarie, anticonformiste parvero prendere il sopravvento salvo poi squagliarsi nei lustri successivi, ed il sesso da materia egalitaria e escapista divenne un'altra trappola della reazione borghese.
Non per niente oggi Faenza è coperto e allineato a differenza di questo interessante esperimento.
Dafuq did I just watch?! Interessanter psychadelische Komödie/Drama, welches viele ungewöhnliche Szenen bietet.
Wirklich eine Wiederentdeckung wert.
Eigentlich ist es fast unmöglich mit diesen Kostümen, dieser Ausstattung, diesem Soundtrack und einer Grundidee mit theoretischem Potenzial eine superfade unlustige Komödie zu kreieren: Aber Roberto Faenza hat es geschafft. Glückwunsch, ein kompletter Rohrkrepierer!
