Zusammenfassung

Auch in der chirurgischen Behandlung eines spastischen Schiefhalses stellt sich die Frage, ob das Krankheitsbild kausal oder nur symptomatisch angegangen wer den kann. Schon 1929 forderte Foerster: „Für alle Fälle von Torticollis kommt es in erster Linie darauf an, daß man die Entstehungsursache so genau wie möglich eruiert und diese zu beseitigen sucht. Diese kausale Therapie ist besonders von Erfolg gekrönt in vielen Fällen von sogenannten reflektorischen Torticollis“, zu denen Foerster u.a. irritative Prozesse am Vestibularapparat, den Halsweichteilen und besonders an der HWS zählt; in heutiger Kenntnis wären noch weitere Ursachen zu berücksichtigen [16, 56, 58]. Erst nach dieser ausklammernden Überlegung steht für den neurologischen Tortikollis das geeignete operative Behandlungsverfahren zur Diskussion.
