Zusammenfassung
Bei einer Reihe von Produkten ist es relativ gut möglich abzusehen, nach welcher Absatzmenge der Markt gesättigt sein wird. Daher eignet sich die Sättigungsgrenze als Parameter eines Prognosemodells, das vor allem den mittel- oder langfristig erreichbaren Absatz abzuschätzen gestattet. Im Rahmen von Produktionsplanungssystemen oder auch solchen zum Lieferkettenmanagement (Supply Chain Management) dürfte besonders der Fall bedeutsam sein, bei dem die Absatzmengen bzw. das Wachstum des nächsten Halbjahres oder Jahres vorhergesagt werden sollen („Wachstumsmodelle“). Es ist aber auch möglich, von beobachteten Werten der Funktion auf die Höhe des Sättigungswertes zu schließen und den ungefähren Zeitpunkt anzugeben, zu dem er bis zu einem bestimmten Prozentsatz erreicht sein wird.
