Antipyretische analgetica voor jonge hinderen

Samenvatting

In Nederland is een groot aantal (combinatie)preparaten met antipyretische en analgetische werking voor toepassing bij jonge kinderen in gebruik. De voor- en nadelen van de in deze preparaten meest voorkomende geneesmiddelen worden besproken. Dit leidt tot de conclusie dat voor kinderen vanaf 3 maanden acetylsalicylzuur en paracetamol als antipyretische analgetica in aanmerking komen. Combinatie met coffeÏne en/of fenobarbital wordt niet zinvol geacht; combinatie met codeÏnefosfaat of een benzodiazepine zoals diazepam, of met promethazinehydrochloride komt slechts in bepaalde gevallen in aanmerking.

Besproken worden de factoren waarmee rekening moet worden gehouden bij het formuleren van optimale toedieningsvormen voor orale en rectale toediening van acetylsalicylzuur en paracetamol, alsmede de dosering van deze preparaten bij jonge kinderen. Op grond van de beschikbare gegevens worden als eerste keuze Carbasalaatcalcium-poeders FNA3 en Paracetamol-zetpillenFNA geadviseerd.
