I have heard so much about Anton's and the huge portion. Somehow I have not been here. Hard to believe but it happens. Palate changes and I no longer eat pasta much now. I have outgrew the heavy sauces, both cream and tomato, and generally prefer a simple pasta tossed with olive oil.
Most of my friends have also outgrew the heaviness of pasta but I finally persuaded a friend to go with me.
We went for lunch and the place was pretty busy on a weekday. Service was warm and the server was great in figuring out which pasta my friend had years ago. You could also get the dinner portion during lunch and still get a pen if you finish it. My friend did. His second pen from Anton's.
I decided to try the fettuccine with prosciutto and asparagus in a sage cream sauce. Lunch portion. It was good but still too much to finish. I reheated the leftover and it was still good. Amazing! Sometimes cream pasta didn't taste good when reheated so I was glad it wasn't the case here.
I tried a bit of the pasta my friend ordered - penne all emiliana. It was tossed in olive oil and served with Italian sausage, pancetta, olives, basil, tomatoes and feta cheese. Very tasty too.
I can see the appeal of Anton's with its homely hearty pasta. It has a family atmosphere, even among the staff.
I will come back again to try the other pasta dishes.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - 283144782Nov 30, 2023
Endured nearly an hour in the chilly Vancouver weather just to try this restaurant . No regrets--would brave the cold again!
From the comforting minestrone to the generous serving of lasagna and impeccable service, it was a delightful experience. The tiramisu is a definite highlight with its delicious rich layers.
Patience is key, considering the limited seating. The staff, though busy, are exceptionally pleasant. Ideal for all, and the prices are a steal--portions, except for soups, easily available will satisfy two persons. Highly recommend this gem; you won't leave disappointed.

Edit 4.0: back again to anton's hehehe. I love anton's so much and this time i tried the rigatoni con tonno and the manicotti anton's. The rigatoni con tonno was a meh for me so definitely avoid this. Tuna doesnt fit with pasta while the manicotti was very very good. Definitely recommended to try. Till the next time going to anton's again for the edit 5.0 where i have actually been to anton's probably more than 20 times though.

This time tried the seafood sauce and the red sauce and the seafood sauce was much better. I have to apologise for forgetting the name of the one i chose. Recommended as always. Cheers! Ohh the tiramisu isnt so good avoid this.
Aug 22, 2022Previous reviewEdit 2.0: it is always good to be back here again because it is the best comfort pasta in town. Not the best for its taste but the size and the comfortability outdone any pasta place. Pro tip is that ask for the bread because they wont serve you no more bread if you dont ask for it. Cheers!
Mar 31, 2021Previous reviewCame here for the big pastas!!! I'm a regular already. I am trying to try for all its pastas. If you want a big pasta that can fulfill are you needs, this is the place for you! More likely you're going to take it away though. However, I love its pastas so much! Super amazing and super cheap too! Totally recommended and would keep coming back here!

When they say big portion they meant HUGE. I felt like even 4 people can't finish the one pasta one appetizer portion, that was how crazy it was.
I heard this place is very popular but when I came in there was one free table! We ordered pesto pasta, it was a little bland, however we also got this sausage chicken appetizer with spicy tomato sauce, the sauce on the pasta is straight up match made in heaven!!! I loved it!
They r very friendly and the service is fast too
Don't really remember the ambiance since I was too busy eating those big platesHelpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Apr 14, 2023Updated review36 check-ins
Update: went here earlier tonight for a belated birthday dinner...Anton's did *not* disappoint!
Our server was well versed in the menu & recommended a fantastic white wine pairing (pinot grigio), was a nice 0 dry white, paired well with my main, Antonio.
Since COVID, they no longer bring you bread, you have to ask (nudge). Wayyy smaller size but IDC. Also, no more fresh pepper table side, but our server was on it & brought fresh-cracked black peppercorns they use in Carbonara (big pieces, so you gotta love pepper like me) in a bowl to sprinkle over my pasta. Definitely far bigger pieces than a pepper grinder (but close to what I grew up eating). So, I lavishly spooned it over my pasta along with red pepper flakes she offered (I usually have to ask)! Server set the bar higher, wish she introduced herself. Food got 2 levels of mildly hot quick! Wooohhhh!!!! Loved it!
Chefs were spot on tonight & by *FAR* the best food I've had here (34 check ins, not all of my visits were checked in)...best service by far (wish I got our server's name), and fantastic drinks! Cannot say anything better about Anton's quality & quantity of food tonight, as well as impeccable service & as always, cleanliness & menu accommodations!
Thank you, Anton's staff for a wonderful belated birthday dinner. Chef's kiss!
Now I get 3 days of leftovers!!!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Dec 14, 2022Previous reviewSad...been coming here for years & always 5/5*. I think our server was having an off-night, or worse. She forgot nearly everyone's order, drinks too. Told us there were "young men" working the bar, but after repeated attempts to get my water refilled (I was the DD), the bartender was a woman in her late 20s-30s, NOT young men. Never got my water refill. Except when I bussed myself.
The food, as always, was impeccable. Yes, the prices have skyrocketed due to shrinkflation, but you still get a good sized meal.
We saw our food sitting in the window for over 20 minutes, turns out the bill landed on the floor. Shouldn't the server at least ask, if not the expediter??? My food was cold once we finally received it.
Oh, it was my friend's milestone birthday. I know they don't give cakes, but you'd at least hope to receive hot dishes after waiting in the snow for an hour???
I'm sad to say that maybe this server had an off night. My last trip here, my meal was fantastic (same server, no issues w service), but 2/5 guests thought their meal was horrible & wouldn't come back.
What's going on, my reliable Anton's??? (See my 34 check ins??? I love this place & live nowhere close).
Your dining experience really depends on what you order: I stick to the same 6 things. I thought I left reviews in the past, but sadly no.
Still, do not deny yourself the homemade life that is Anton's.
Now, can I get you to make me a chicken piccata dish???!!! Please! You have all the ingredients - Jason T.Surrey, BC356761Nov 21, 2023
This is the best place for pasta in Vancouver, if you get here before 6 during the week you normally avoid the long lines and waits but the staff is great and offer great service with drinks and bread quickly after being seated
Also if you like Tiramisu their's is so light and tastes amazingHelpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - 85281859Aug 21, 2022
A very popular Italian restaurant in the Heights area! You can find lineups during dinner service so come early or order takeout! I've had Anton's from time to time over the years and they offer large portions and many choices on their menu. I recently ordered takeout and tried the pasta Emiliana which had italian sausage, pancetta, fresh tomatos, basil, black olives &
feta cheese in a light extra virgin olive oil. It was very flavourful and I liked the combination of ingredients. It was a large portion about 3-4 servings for me! They also offer complimentary bread if you ask for it!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - 62571388Jun 27, 2022
Nothing has changed here in decades - huge portions, delicious pasta, and lineups. If you go with more than 4 people, expect to lineup. We only saw one big table for 10.
A couple of us had the specialty pasta dish of seafood cannelloni, fettuccini with Italian sausage & penne Bombay (shrimp pasta with curry). All the pasta is homemade. We shared the Caesar salad and had the 'to die for' tiramisu. The specialty dishes are worth the 30 minute wait.
Plenty of food options for all. If you love leftovers this is the place for you. Enough for at least 2 more meals.
Note they're closed Sundays & Mondays. Opened from 11:30 am to 9 on most days. Unfortunately no reservations allowed. Service was great and didn't have to wait long.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Aug 9, 2023Updated review
The only thing that I have to add to this review is that there's almost always a line up out the door. As far as I could remember, they didn't take reservations (especially for dinner service) so if you're planning to go, be sure to get there as early as possible.
Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Oct 24, 2022Previous reviewThis has always been one of my favourite pasta places to go. Absolutely delicious and you get really good portions. Although I have not been here in a while, I remember their dinner portions being big enough to feed at least 2-4 people. So yes, please go on an empty stomach if you plan to go for dinner!

Wow this place is fantastic. On a Saturday evening, we waited outside for 1 hour to get inside and it was worth the wait. The portion size is hugeeeee. We ordered the vegetarian Herb Penne Alla Contadina and asked the server to add more veggies such as broccoli, cauliflower etc.
The restaurant supposedly charges a minimum of $21.50 per person but as we waited for so long the server was kind enough to not charge us that amount. The pasta was left over and was consumed the next day again and again. We also tried the garlic bread and it was very crispy with delicious flavors of garlic and herbs.
Parking did not seem to be a problem at all. There are spots behind the restaurant too.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 1
