This is a unique treat for the senses!
Want a date night with a difference? Defiantly try this restaurant. 100% darkness!! Our waiter was blind and let us by our shoulders inside to the dining area, expect a lot of touchy feely because it's the only real way to show you where things are.
I choose the cheese menu, which was very tasty. My starter and soup were amazing. The main I didn't particularly care for as the cheese was very tangy but it was a messy rice dish which was fun to eat in the dark. The dessert was a very heavy sponge with again a very tart sauce which my personal taste buds don't appreciate! Over all I would give this a 5 out of 5 if it wasn't for the main an dessert. They were disappointing. I would have also appreciated a quicker service. 3 hours in the dark is a very long time!

This was an experience that I expected to enjoy a lot and to be honest I really didn't.

It sounded really interesting and challenging to experience eating in pitch black darkness. The restaurant is often known as the blind restaurant as the vast majority of staff are blind and the diners eat in total darkness.

I think a lot of people will enjoy the experience but I found it to be quite challenging. It is very strange not being able to see your friends or waiting staff, your food or drinks and having to be led to your table.
Of course this is the point of the place but when you are paying 140 euros for two people and you can't choose what your having other than it being meat, fish or veggie, it could be seen as being a bit pricey. I am afraid I just thought the food was also not that good.

Maybe it was because I had been traveling all day and was tired and I should of perhaps gone on a day after a good nights sleep when my senses were at their best.

So to sum up. An experience? Yes. An enjoyable dinner? No. Plus all very expensive.

The experience is beyond articulation. Amazing what you can do without your sense of sight. Within 20 minutes or so, you will start getting more comfortable with the dark, although I must say my first few steps into the dark were rather unnerving.

The quality of food, in spite of being dwarfed by the experience itself, was pretty darn good. Our waiter was quite friendly and really made an effort to warm up to us, but he took really long to get back to us between courses. We went for the Surprise Main; my +2 co-diners coulndn't tell that it was rabbit. They thought we were being served alternatively cooked lamb.

Somewhat pricey given that it's Berlin, but highly highly recommended for the value of the experience. I would totally go back!

This place is a ripoff. I felt ripped off after eating here. As we left, I was sorry that we came.

The eating in the dark part is actually fun, and is supposed to heighten your taste sense. The food, sadly, did not live up to this promise.

The food is nowhere near good enough to justify their prices.
Not. Even. Close.

When I pay over 50 € for food in Berlin, I expect to get high quality food. The food at Unsicht did not taste like it.

The wine was fine, but also very, very, very overpriced.

As a side note, the wait between starter and main course was over an hour. We asked the waiter if we could have the main course now, but was told to now worry, it was coming. Turned out they wanted to serve main course to 5-6 tables at once, including ours.

It feels like this restaurant has a way of thinking that because you eat in the dark, they can charge 100% more for everything, without delivering better quality food / wine. If you do not agree with this, do not go to Unsicht.

When i got invited here on one of my birthdays by my X-girlfriend, i did not know what to expect....a restaurant completely in the dark??? Service by sight-disabled people?

Oh boy, let us hope they do not serve hot soup here.

The moment you get in there, you get picked up by a friendly guy, who leads you into the darkness by your hand, and gets you seated in your place.

Then the show starts, with singing and music.....and well....there was another show running by me and my girlfriend in the dark, but do not go to far with your imagination....it was'nt more than hugs and kisses.....I think if there is an ultra-violet camera or something, they would manage to catch a lot of very interesting moments :)

Anyway....i do not recall the quality of the food, but if it were bad i would have remembered....The service is totally nice and sweet, and the experience is unforgettable....anyone in Berlin should try it.

This is a very unique place so it automatically gets 5 stars from me. If you decide to go here, make sure you've set aside plenty of time, i got The 4 course meal and we finished in 2 hours. This place offers 5 different types of meals; chicken, beef, fish, vegetarian or surprise. The waiters/waitresses are blind but get around with ease, they will lead you to and from your table. The prices may seem high, but there are several promotions to help with this. If you're visiting Berlin, get a Berlin welcome card for the subway and get the red booklet that comes with it. Present the red booklet at the front for 25% off your meal (note: you MUST have the red booklet for the discount, I tried just showing my subway Berlin welcome card pass but they did not accept it). I did the surprise menu which was fun, but wouldn't recommend doing this of you're even the slightest bit picky. I would go here again as it was a fun experience. It's fun to move other people's stuff around at your table to see how they react. I was told the dining area holds about 80 people. I hope to see something similar in Florida some day.

Amazing experience!
We spent 4 nights in Berlin and ate mostly sandwiches and falafel, knowing that our dinner at this restaurant would cost a load.
It was worth every dime and I would go back in a heart beat. My only complaint is that the people who greeted us at the cash register after our meal were totally unfriendly, (but then again, we found that a fair number of Berliners were grouchy that way.)
I highly recommend this place!

A unique dining experience for me. (I have not been to Nocti-Verdus so can't compare).
The idea is that your dining experience is heightened if you take away one on the senses. In this case - sight.
You only get to choose the group of food to will be served: Vegetarian, game, beef etc before you are shown to your table.
You then have to guess what you are eating during the meal as the restaurant is in TOTAL darkness.
You are even asked not to activate lights in phones or watches.
All the waiters and waitresses are blind, and unnervingly buzz about at top speed as it makes no difference to them.
You form a human chain hands on shoulders and are led by your waiter/ress to the table.
The first time I tried to take a mouthful I stabbed myself in the cheek, so take it slowly.
I also felt my first course to find out what it was - and put my hand in a plate of pasta with sauce - yuk!
Oh and when one of us ordered an extra glass of white wine, the waiter brought red - then laughed when we said he had made a mistake, and that he was just testing us!

It is a totally dark restaurant, you will not see a thing the entire time you are in it. But that is what you are coming for, not the food. The food was merely okay. If it didn't have darkness, I would not be going for the food. Especially at their prices.

But for what you get, it is definitely something fun to try once. It is a good place to take non-foodie friends and family for a new experience.

Also, it seems like a lot of people had vouchers or coupons of some sort. I didn't, so try finding one before going to help ease the price a bit.

My wife and I came here for dinner. The staff changed our reservation from 6:00pm to 5:30. We arrived there at 5:10 because we wanted to be on time, and the hours listed online on Yelp were 5pm opening. Although some people inside were sitting around chatting, a worker told us we had to wait outside, but it was so cold. We asked if we could just come at sit 15 minutes until they were ready, but they still said "no."
After the meal, which was delicious, we tried to talk to manager, but they just told us to see it from their point of view and didn't want to listen. They refused to apologize at all. To me, good food and experience of eating in a crowded, dark room is not worth it to be treated rudely.
