Tess Mosko Scherer’s mixed media collages stem from a place so deep within that they become universal. Because of this, there is an instant connection formed between the art and the viewer.
The Technique:
Essentially each piece begins as a sketch that is hand embossed into the paper. Pastels and colored pencil are applied to bring out the embossing. Generally two or more pieces of paper are torn to form specific shapes that are sewn together with a bookmaker’s thread. Summed up in a few short sentences, some pieces take several days or weeks to complete depending on size and complexity.
