After almost 22 years within the industrial group VBG Group AB (publ), Anders Birgersson has decided to resign from his position as President and CEO.

Anders Birgersson has informed the VBG Group AB (publ) Board of Directors that he, after almost 22 years, wishes to step down as the Group’s President and CEO, no later than May 31, 2023.

With this announcement, the Board of Directors has decided to appoint Anders Erkén as the new President and CEO. Anders Erkén has worked within VBG Group since September 2007. He is, since 2011 Divisional CEO for Truck & Trailer Equipment, and has an overall responsibility for the Ringfeder Power Transmission division. Anders Erkén is Deputy CEO of VBG Group AB (publ) since 2018.

The Chairman of the Board, Johnny Alvarsson, states that VBG Group's corporate culture always has been characterized as long-term with persistent, and good profitability. Over the years, Anders Birgersson has strengthened the Group's position within trailer couplings and mechanical power transmission. He carried out the Group's largest acquisition in 2016, when Mobile Climate Control was acquired, and the Group doubled its size. During Anders Birgersson’s leadership, the Group has internationalized, and the cyclical economic sensitivity has decreased.

“Anders Erkén will be the fourth President & CEO in the Group’s 71 years history, and he has the right background to continue developing VBG Group internationally”, says Johnny Alvarsson.

"The years at VBG Group have been an exciting and developing journey in many ways and I am incredibly proud of the results we have achieved during my almost 22 years as CEO. From a small group consisting of 6 companies with a turnover of SEK 550 million to an international industrial Group with around 30 companies and a turnover of over SEK 4 billion. It has really been about teamwork. From the first day at VBG Group, I have been impressed by all the competence and drive of our employees,” says Anders Birgersson

Anders Erkén takes up his new position on January 1, 2023. After that, Anders Birgersson will be available to the Board of Directors and the new CEO, as a Senior Advisor, until May 31, 2023.

"I turn 64 years in November, and I do now look forward to letting go of the operational everyday life and to have more time with family and friends. I also hope to somehow continue to get involved in activities where I can contribute with my experiences. The future will tell what that will be,” says Anders Birgersson
