Chvrches are back with a new single, “He Said She Said.” It’s the first piece of new music from Chvrches since they released “Death Stranding,” their contribution to the Hideo Kojima game of the same name, back in 2019. Listen to it below.

“He Said She Said” was recorded almost entirely remotely on both sides of the Atlantic, with the band members working over Zoom and with audio-sharing software in order to collaborate. It arrives three years after the release of the Scottish electronic trio’s most recent album Love Is Dead.

“‘He Said She Said’ is my way of reckoning with things I’ve accepted that I know I shouldn’t have,” Lauren Mayberry said in a statement. “All the verse lines are tongue-in-cheek or paraphrased versions of things that have actually been said to me by men in my life. Being a woman is fucking exhausting and it felt better to scream it into a pop song than scream it into the void. After the past year, I think we can all relate to feeling like we’re losing our minds.”

Chvrches made an appearance on Fallon last year to perform “Forever,” from Love Is Dead. Revisit Pitchfork’s interview with Chvrches around their third record, “Chvrches On the Frustrations That Inspired Their Outspoken New Album.”
