Biography

2016-17: Bayreuther led the Saints in scoring for the second straight season with eight goals and 21 assists for 29 points, including two power play goals and a shorthanded goal…He became the program leader in goals by a defenseman after scoring his 32nd career goal in a 3-1 win over RPI on Nov. 12…Bayreuther finished his St. Lawrence career with 111 total points on 35 goals and 76 assists…He was a first team All-ECAC Hockey selection and earned CCM/ACHA East Region All-America honors for the second time in his career as a second team selection…Bayreuther signed a contract with the Texas Stars, the AHL affiliate of the NHL’s Dallas Stars, at the conclusion of the season.

2015-16: A first-team All ECAC choice and a ECAC all tournament selection, Gavin was the first defenseman in program history to lead the team in scoring, finishing with 29 points...He was named second team All America, the eighth junior to earn All America honors in program history...Had a goal and an assist in the RIT game, scoring his fifth career game-winner...Scored his second of the year to open the scoring at UNH...Scored a goal in each game at Cornell and Colgate...the Colgate goal from the faceoff dot in his own end and into the empty net...He scored the tying goal and set up the overtime winner against Cornell...Scored a goal in each game against Quinnipiac and Princeton...He now ranks sixth on the all-time Saint defenseman scoring list with 82 points...Scored his third game winner of the year in the second overtime to beat Clarkson in game two of the quarterfinal sweep...Scored the lone Saint goal in the semifinals against Harvard.

2014-15: A pre-season All ECAC all star, Gavin had another outstanding season for the Saints and helped the defense become one of the best in the nation...He scored six goals and had 11 assists for 17 points in 37 games, had a plus/minus rating of plus-8 and was among the leaders in blocked shots with 28...Four of his six goals were game winners and he scored an extra attacker goal to force the ECAC semifinal game with Colgate into overtime...He tied for the team lead in power play scoring with 10 points...He tied for seventh overall among all ECAC defensemen in scoring

2013-14: The co-winner of the ECAC Rookie of the Year award and the Saint team Rookie of the Year, Gavin Bayreuther had one of the most productive rookie seasons on the blue line in Saint program history...His nine goals and 27 assists for 36 points were all Saint records for a rookie defenseman and he was named second team All-ECAC...He had a four assist night at Princeton, the best for a Saint defender since 2005 and was ECAC Rookie of the week following the Princeton-Quinnipiac road sweep...He was the third leading scorer for the Saints and finished plus-two in 38 games...He had 30 blocked shots with six of his nine goals coming on the power play...He scored his first collegiate goal in his first collegiate game against Maine at Appleton Arena and scored in 25 of 38. He assisted on three game winning goals.

Prior to St. Lawrence
A defenseman who was named to the USHL All Rookie team while playing for the Fargo Force, Gavin Bayreuther scored nine goals and had 24 assists while helping his team to the Western Conference championship....He earned All New England first team honors in both hockey and lacrosse while playing for the Holderness School in 2012 and also played soccer for Holderness...He is the son of John and Jessica Bayreuther.
