Mall of Emirates Ski Dubai
There are many malls in Dubai, but the most unusual and unique is The Mall of Emirates, especially for its 1-degree Celsius, 22,500 sq m indoor ski resort—Ski Dubai. In fact, Ski Dubai is the first ski resort in the Middle East. Ski Dubai is a unique mountain-themed attraction that offers skiing for every level. There are five ski runs of varying difficulty, height and steepness and a quad chairlift. The longest run is 400 m with a fall of 60 m. The slope itself is 85 m high and 80 m wide. There are gentle slopes for beginners and indoor black runs for more seasoned and experienced skiers. Ski Dubai has the third largest skiing area in the world. Ski Dubai also offers snowboarding and tobogganing. There is a 90 m long quarter pipe for snowboarders to perfect their tricks.
Not into winter sports? Don’t worry; Ski Dubai has an interactive Snow Park spread over 3,000 sq m—the biggest indoor snow park in the world. There are also many themed restaurants inside Ski Dubai, like the St. Moritz Café located at the entrance or the Avalanche Café at mid-station with views of the ski slope. Once inside, you might just forget that you are in the middle of an Arabian desert. Ski equipment and clothing are available for rent at Snow Pro inside Ski Dubai. Professional instructors are on hand to give you your first lesson in skiing or snowboarding.

The Mall of Emirates is owned by Majid Al Futtaim, and was opened to the public in November 2005. Like other malls, The Mall of Emirates has all the amenities—a fourteen-screen multiplex, a gaming arena and a great variety of retail stores. Admission to the ski resort is allowed for a reasonable fee of Dh130, inclusive of all gear, except hats and gloves, which are available separately for sale. Children should be accompanied by an adult.
If you’re missing that cold feeling on your nose and want to experience snow, Ski Dubai may be just the fix you need. The entire snow park can accommodate 1,500 visitors at any given time. It remains closed on Saturday and opens between 10am and 11pm from Sunday to Wednesday, 10am and 12am on Thursday and 9am and 12am on Friday. Irrespective of whether you are looking to ski, or improve your skills through lessons, or join your kids at the skiing classes, it is better to do pre-booking, before you visit the mind-blowing snow park or encounter real penguins here!
