Players and fans get ready for 2022 Gus Macker 3-on-3 Basketball Tournament
FLINT, Mich. - The Gus Macker 3-on-3 Basketball Tournament returns to Downtown Flint's Flat Lot this weekend. Here what's you can expect:
There are brackets for men, women and school – aged teens and kids to play on their own separate courts to eventually make it to the championships.

Festivities will begin Friday afternoon at 4 with a team pre-registration, followed by a free movie showing in the Capitol Theatre at 5:30 of ‘Space Jam – A New Legacy.
There will also be a free BBQ giveaway and a concert.
Then on Saturday morning, the opening game ceremony starts at 8.
There you'll find multiple courts with 140 teams participating from all over the country, food trucks and vendors for players and fans to enjoy. You can also see Flint Mayor Sheldon Neeley on the court tomorrow. Catch his excitement here:
There's also going to be slam-dunk, three-point and free-throw contests with cash prizes.
In addition, Former Basketball Player and Coach Linnell Jones – McKenney says they will highlight the women’s Title IX’s 50th year of women in sports.
“I was the first Gus Macker that came to Flint. I brought it, so that was back in the early 80s, and then it was here for a long time then it was gone for 20 years so to bring it back, it says a lot to the legacy, not just of Gus Macker but of Flint,” said Jones – McKenney.
The Gus Macker is also a fundraiser for the Sylvester Broom Empowerment Village to continue giving Flint kids the opportunity to participate in sports at no cost.
Your support will also go towards the village's soon-to-be-built sports complex.
