Germany / StreetartWeißwasser or Oberlausitz is a large district town in north-eastern Saxony. It lies in the midst of a lignite-rich heathland between the Lusatian Lake District and the German-Polish border. With its rise from a rural village to an industrial town, Weißwasser grew from a population of around 1000 in 1885 to over 38,000 in 1988 and then fell back to 16,000 in 2020. Malta / StreetartThe access from the west side to the Msida Graffiti Zone also leads directly into the middle of the skatepark area. You reach the skating playground from the west, but quite close to the middle of the square by a corridor. The effect is really cool to walk through. If you have enough time, you should walk through all those entering tunnels and underpassing gateways. After a while walking around this small oasis in the middle of the highway stretches, you have the feeling of being in a colourful and wide-branched labirinth while the continously there is the highway noise of hundreds of cars in the background. Design / ItalySymmetry and geometric shapes, luminous fractals and colourful origami. These are the themes that digital artist and creative designer Luigi Savoia deals with in a just stunning way. To observe his works is simply impressive, especially because he himself is naturally completely fascinated by them and presents his creations with a beautiful concept. Luigi came to the Vagabundler Project via urban art and through the graffiti documentation. He is currently working on the Streetart Map of Turin. But after some communication it turned out that besides his great Instagram channel to streetart, he is also a very inspired person in many other areas and creates beautiful objects. There will be another article on Luigi about his streetart content, but here we are going to focus in an interview on his cubic structures and the luminous installations, in the spirit of the famous artist Escher. >>> READ MORE [...] Read more...

Greece / StreetartAfter the first days in Thessaloniki I just had no idea anymore how to categorize, sort or edit the pictures later. I just had thousands of pics and the whole city is literally a huge street gallery. On every alley, on every house, on every something, even on the trees – Yes on trees! – you can find spray can doings and marker writings. Altogether it is one social art phenomenon, a way of expression and nice to observe, to document, to read and to understand how the habitants change their surrounding. If you look closer you can divide this huge house and wall painting cover which lies like a curtain over the whole city. There are areas where it is more packed, like at the university, downtown and in the center, as well you can find in between whole concept houses, high quality group artworks and of course the brilliantly made and enormous mighty murals, which cover the walls of whole 10-level apartment buildings and even higher. >>> READ MORE [...] Read more...
Artisani / Asia / Japan / MusicThis year we could cheer to the start of the next as one of the firsts on the planet. New Year’s Eve in Japan, the country of the rising sun, Yeah! We celebrated in Osaka namely here:  大阪府大阪市住之江区北加賀屋名村造船跡地.That means Namura Zosenjo Atochi and it is an discarded and remodeled shipyard and the Osaka Creative Center, a very cool location and perfect for parties. We knew that there would be DJ-acts like Soichi Terade, Peter van Hoesen and several unfamiliar artists and groups, and we knew that there would be nice electronic music. But we didn´t know that there would be as well fantastic Drum & Bass on the second floor! Surprise! Incredible! >>> READ MORE [...] Read more...
Oman / StreetartWith this country we were really faced with a whole new challenge. Find graffiti and street art in Oman? … Hmmm … is there anything like that? First of all, we can say that so much can be found in architectural art and in a beautiful natural landscape. But with murals it looks more difficult. The whole sultanate consists almost entirely of desert and in the cities everything is kept very „uniform“ and regulated. Nevertheless, Oman is one of the more open and liberal countries on the Arabian Peninsula, worth a visit. And we still found some graffiti stuff, but then you have to look very carefully. >>> READ MORE [...] Read more...
Germany / StreetartToday we show you some masterpieces from Bochum from the “Kings Wall” at the Universitätsstraße. In autumn 2021 the retaining wall on Universitätsstraße got a new look and 28 graffiti artists were involved in the redesign. About 20 years ago the wall was primarly decorated with large-scale graffiti. Over time, the colors faded and the effect of beautifying the urban space threatened to tip into the opposite due to neglect. To counteract this, the approximately 1,000 square meter area was redesigned with a fantastic colaboration mural project last year. Check out the photos from the magnificent results. >>> READ MORE [...] Read more...
Argentina / Sports / StreetartIn 2007 a group of local skaters started a movement to have their own space to practice their passion. The design was created by specialized architects, and the construction was supervised by the Argentine Skateboarding Association. Besides the sports fun there are numerous fantastic graffiti and urban artworks around the area. >>> READ MORE [...] Read more...
Nature / South AfricaOn a trip to South Africa and Cape Town, the picturesque Cape of Good Hope is of course one of the main spots you should have seen. The spectacularly shaped peninsula between the Atlantic and Indian Oceans rises like an arrow into the maritime border area and frames a paradisiac white sandy beach, where turquoise blue waves break. We stayed for a few days in Mothercity, as Cape Town is often called, and explored the region by rental car. As far as you can handle the traffic on the left, this is probably the cheapest and most flexible exploration opportunity. Of course, many things also go by public transport and countless tours and day trips are offered, but if you want to avoid the big tourist crowds and prefer a free time schedule, then we clearly recommend the rental car. The easiest way to book the vehicle you want at Avis, Europcar, Budget, Tempest or Thrifty is to pick up and drop off directly at the airport. >>> READ MORE [...] Read more...

Nature / OmanA wadi is a valley or river that often leads to water only after heavy rains. Surprising flash floods can be caused by distant thunderstorms that fall in the correspondingly large catchment area of the wadi. The stay in Wadis with steep banks, but also in very wide wadis can become life-threatening in such cases. We went on a exploring tour to see some of those wadis, in summer time there is definitly no danger, maybe you could fall asleep and drown while relaxing in warm chilled basins and swimming pool like valleys of the wadis. One of the those famous and fantastic wadis is Wadi Shab, which we visited on our journey. >>> READ MORE [...] Read more...

Atelier / Britain / DesignCreativity slumbers within each of us, you just have to pursue these ideas a little and give your imagination a jolt. You should also keep your eyes open to allow inspiration and conception. Art is timeless, just as there are no prescribed rules, a minimum or maximum age, a condition of academic art training or other certificates. The ideas and creativity come from within yourself, the other elements that are certainly helpful are just building blocks that you can use when the time comes. The artist Beth Williams went her own way and creates beautiful pictures and thought-provoking collages with hidden messages. >>> READ MORE [...] Read more...

Streetart / SwedenThe Kulturkvarter Snösätra with its Graffiti Wall of Fame was one of the greates open art galleries in Europe, unfortunately it has been torn down in September 2020, but here in our archive are a lot of photos of the great works on this former awesome colorful lost place. The streetart hot spot was located in the remote south of Stockholm in a disused industrial park near Rågsved. This building complex lay fallow for years and gradually fell apart. It was a small deserted ghost town that was avoided. But that should change completely. In 2014, a group was able to convince the landowners that certain walls can be painted. This started a transformation of this area into one of the largest graffiti exhibitions in Europe. >>> READ MORE [...] Read more...
