wanderers in the hope that they will bring both glory and peace to their
land. But will he take up arms in the defense against the greatest
threat his people have faced…?
THE REAPER– Cursed with undeath from the Witch, he is her closest servant and most powerful–and deadly–ally. He was once human, once lived amongst the Lord’s men, but fell into corruption by the ever-present pursuit of power. Does he remember who and what he was? Does this cloud his judgement or is he simply a pawn in the greater game?

Dr. Ziegler was a healer, through and through. An apothecary, an expert surgeon, a midwife, she specialized in most anything related to the health and wellbeing of a person. Proficient enough to have caught the eye of the Lord of Adlersbrunne– the woman given quarter, staff, and supplies to do what she had to during a great war with a neighboring nation. Years, this war lasted, many perishing despite the good doctor’s best efforts. In a moment of weakness, the good apothecary gave up her name– the essence of who she was–to receive the Spark of Life in return. Dr. Ziegler had traversed seemingly overnight into the world of Witchcraft: the entities who came to her stealing her name away, her memories, her womb, and even a majority of her true emotions. She lost herself– and though those who came into her care ceased dying; many lives saved, the kingdom frowned upon such demonic Witchcraft in any sort. People feared what they did not understand. And she made no effort to make them understand.
As such– the Lord had no choice but to try her and her staff as a coven– the Witch losing her last scrap of humanity when the innocents under her hand burned alive at the stake. And so the Witch fled the city, cursing the Lord, and swearing that one day, she would exact her revenge. The Lord has since remained on his throne– perhaps regretting the decision he had exacted. Aging, yet not dying. Immortal, only to be slain by her hand. Though he spoke nothing of it– and opted instead to erase the witch from history. And as the years ticked by, the people began to forget her.
It was there that the Witch and the good Doctor struck up their alliance– the witch, armed with her minions of the fae and the monsters that lurked in the darkness of the trees, and Junkenstein, armed with his zomnics and his creations, plotted the demise of the Lord and his fiefdom. The witch gave her spark of life to each and every one of his zomnics, on one condition– the witch herself would be the one to end the life of the Lord.
And so their army of the fae, the monsters in the dark, and the created abominations grew in number– but how long could the town dwell in ignorance before they struck?
The storyline for this roleplay will be taking place 90 years from the event described above. You will have TWO definitive sides– that of the Lord and his people, or of the Witch and her amassed army of fae and monster alike.
There will be no neutrals in this war– it is either kill or be killed.
The Lord and his people are human, and only that. They fear what they do not understand and rely more on their technology– their rifles, their swords, and their shields. Their infantry and their walls. Very few magic users are among them– and they are held at arm’s length, mages of all studies untrusted. But, in the grand scheme of things, expendable.
Those who serve the Mad Doctor are servants to his cause– either haphazard biological and mechanical constructs of his twisted science or “gifts” from his greatest ally– the Witch. Each of the servants and constructs are regarded as useful, obedient, and in the end, expendable.
And The Witch’s army is that of the fae– the beings of magic and darkness that inhabit the Schwarzwald in all of its area. Beasts of great power are treated as loved ones, like children. But in the end, expendable– like everyone else.
The Castle itself is based on the real-life castle of Eichenwalde– Burg Hohenzollern. It’s close proximity to Stuttgart and architectural style are similar– and thusly it is as we know the inspiration for the in-game map itself.
All of the beasts of folklore will be based on the mythos of the time period and the location surrounding the Black Forest. Magic will be largely based on that of Dungeons and Dragons– there are different classes and schools of magic, and while it is nie impossible to learn them all in one lifetime, magic can behave closer to that of the world of Harry Potter. The combination of the two makes Magic feel far more expansive, natural, and deadly.
