Master of the Fertility of the EggThe Inappetent Owl - Grotesque Scene with Owl and Swan - Late 17th CenturyLate 17th Century
Late 17th Century
About the Item
Two masterpieces by the Master of the Fertility of the Egg, nearly impossible to find in homogeneous pairs on the private market, both in terms of style and dimensions.
They represent bizarre scenes of deformed men and animals, following the traditions of Northern Europe by Hieronymus Bosch and Pieter Brueghel the Old and especially that of the "bambocceschi lombardi" .
The Inappetent Owl is a variation, with significant different elements, of that of the same title preserved at the Musée Fesch in Ajaccio (Corse).
The other painting, depicting an owl, a swan, a lobster among other animals and deformed man, in our knowledge is unpublished and was made simultaneously with the other, given its thematic and stylistic homogeneity and its identical measures.
Both the paintings are in very good conditions and come with ancient frames, as photos can show.
The are accompanied by an expertise by Dott. Patrizio Basso Bondini.
The Maestro della Fertilità dell'Uovo (Master of the Fertility of the Egg) is the name give to a yet unidentified painter active in Lombardy and particularly Brescia between the end of the 17th and the beginning of the 18th Century.
His name is due to a painting part of the Milwaukee Art Museum collection, depicting dwarfs, geese and lobsters hatching eggs.
Both the paintings already have an international export certificate.

- 18th Oil Painting Horses Feeding at the StablesBy James SeymourLocated in London, GBJames Seymour (1702–1752) Feeding Time in the Stables Oil on canvas 32 x 38 inches inc. frame Provenance: Private Collection, Lambourn James Seymour (1702–1752) was an English painter, widely recognized for his equestrian art. Seymour was born in London. His father was an amateur artist and art dealer, whose other business dealings (as a banker, goldsmith, and diamond merchant) afforded young Seymour the leisure time to study art on his own, either his father's or the art at the Virtuosi Club of St. Luke - a gentleman's club his father belonged to, specializing in art. In a short time the boy was a self-taught artist, familiar with many of the prominent artists of the period. Seymour's love of art was matched only by his love of horses. He began spending time at racetracks early on, and before long found himself absorbed in the sport - drawing, painting, owning, breeding, and racing horses. His art proved popular among the prominent sporting families of the day, eventually garnering Seymour patrons in Sir William Jolliffe and Charles Seymour, 6th Duke of Somerset...Category
