Description

Do you love the aromatic taste of wormwood? Then the ALANDIA Wormwood Bitters are a must try! We developed them to experience the full flavor of Absinthe's iconic ingredient: Wormwood. Therefore, our Absinthe Bitters are made of nothing more than grande wormwood (artemisia absinthium), this means the bottle contains 100% wormwood (no anise or fennel). Nothing more and nothing less. The aromatic but non-licorice taste is achieved by a blend of distilled and macerated wormwood intensified by vapor distilled wormwood oil. The Absinthe Wormwood Bitters are bottled in a dripper bottle for easy dosage. The alcohol level is set at 40% by vol. (80 proof), so that you can use them as well for other creative creations (see next paragraph).

Absinthe Wormwood Bitters: How to use them

First of all, you can add a few drops of the Bitters to your glass of Absinthe to intensify the wormwood taste. We recommend 30-35 drops for one glass. This sounds a lot but 30 drops are just 0.05 oz (1.5 ml). In cocktails, the Bitters add complexity with a bitter twist. Very nice drinks for the Cocktail Bitters are for example the classic Sazerac Absinthe Cocktail or Old Fashioned. But of course you can use the Absinthe Bitters as well for any drink of your choice. For example add a few drops to beer, vodka, gin or any soft drink or juice (Coke, Sprite and grape juice are delicious). You will be surprised, what these drops will do to the taste! The fascinating aspect of the Wormwood Bitters is that you can use them like flavor drops to give everything a Green Fairy touch. We actually used the Bitters already for cooking and added a good portion to our favorite granola cookie recipe. We love the wormwood twist!

Absinthe, Wormwood & Thujone, what is the hype all about?

We all know, Absinthe will not make you freak out and you will not see pink elephants on the wall. But drinking Absinthe is different to drinking other spirits. Primarily, because of its rich history. Oscar Wilde once wrote: "After the first glass, you see things as you wish they were. After the second, you see things as they are not. Finally, you see things as they really are, and that is the most horrible thing in the world." This statement in terms of the effect of drinking Absinthe is of course exaggerated. You will not hallucinate, Absinthe is "just" (high-proof) alcohol. But still, drinking Absinthe is a unique and authentic experience. No other drink has so many drinking rituals. And no other drink influenced the work of artists and poets at its time as much as Absinthe did. Therefore, drinking Absinthe comes with this very special aura of nostalgia. We love Absinthe for what it is...

Surprisingly aromatic vermouth kick Review by Fuchs

For cocktails and long drinks I usually use the classic Angostura bitters. When Alandia now came out with an absinthe bitter product, I was of course curious as an absinthe fan.
I had expected a rather bitter wormwood extract and then found quite surprised that the Wormwood Bitter is actually anything but. I tried it neat and actually it is a very balanced absinthe extract with rather herbaceous note, with which you can refine wonderful drinks.
Of course, the wormwood is in the foreground, but remains pleasantly balanced in taste with a very tasty absinthe flavor. That is, you do not have to be totally careful when dosing, also the alcohol note is very soft and well rounded. The dosage itself goes thereby with the high-quality pipette very easy and accurate. Great addition to my home bar. (Posted on 9/29/2022)
