Excellent resource and ideas for beginner and experienced seamstresses.

Excellent resource and ideas for beginner and experienced seamstresses.
I've read the book and sewn one project. I think it is a very clear sewing book perfect for beginners and experienced seamstresses.I've enjoyed reading through the book and planning projects. So far I've made one project (the Asymmetrical Ruffle Skirt pictured below) and am very happy with the results. It was quick to get my pattern pieces ready and quick to piece. I like that the book includes tips for sewing by measurement for women as well as girls since you need to take different things into account.

Helpful, basic info presented concisely. There's fun to be had with these basics if you stretch your imagination! The author gives you foundations that are simple and straightforward and easy to follow, it is my silliness that combined different hem lines and different textures to wrangle myself a Wench dress for a local Ren. Fest.! Lol!

I am just getting into trying not to use a pattern plus I have always had a yearning for dressmaking the Oriental way. This book was one of the first steps I employed to try to measure, cut and sew.

This book has some great patterns in it that you don’t actually need a pattern for! It makes the process easy and much more straightforward than more complicated “normal” patterns. It’s a great way to learn basic skills that can transfer as you learn to sew more complicated items.

I know how to make my own patterns, but it takes a lot of time. So, I bought this book with hopes that I can learn about a new technique. Big mistake... This book is for people who have never seen a yard of fabric in their lives - I'm not even saying it's for beginners, it's probably for little girls who want to make dresses for their dollies. The garment styles they include do not even look nice - don't let the cover fool you. If you know a thing or two about working with a pattern, please do not waste your money on this book. I wanted to return it; however, 5 bucks I will get in return after I pay for shipping will not even be worth the gas I spend to go to the post office.

This was a good book, keep in mind that jersey fabric is required for most of them. As an intermediate seamstress... this is great for the basics. I like the patterns, they are flattering and quick and easy.

I bought this hoping it would be a good book for my students, but even for them I felt it was too basic. Some of the patterns were out of fashion and, I felt, it was more for a warmer climate as there was mostly skirts, small tops and baggy trousers. There are better options on the market.
