Abs, Traction control, Red brake Light

I got an 2002 bmw 330i e46 about a month ago and the abs, traction control, red brake light is on so I’m thinking something wrong with abs...

yesterday I took off my headliner just to take it off and as I’m moving the sunroof wire my light go out, headlight and interior....

Looked up some wire diagram, wires don’t look bad and around the glovebox did get wet

I would read faults first then clear them and see if they come back and it is for a wheel speed sensor with would swap positions, clear faults, if the fault came back for the wheel speed sensor in the new location it's the sensor if the fault remains i the original location, need to dx further. The three lights tend to come on because traction control gets information from wheel speed, yaw and pitch sensors and others processes that then sends it off to abs, engine and trans computers and others. The abs light comes on because it is getting bad info from dsc traction control most of the time. So it is important that you don't just start throwing parts at it

it wouldn't hurt to clean where the sensors plug in either or the actual sensors too i suppose. can you swap front and rear sensors? I thought something to do with the reluctor wheel would cause a problem.

Sure you could but you need fault codes

You may have to replace your ABS module. That's what it takes sometimes. You'll need to re-code it after the replacement.

You need to get the faults first befor throwing parts at it

So i got around to scanning OP car with INPA via my laptop pulled these codes from DME-MS43 and MK60 (68, 79, 250, 90, 91, 92, 93, 17fe, 5df5, 5DB0) cleaned and swapped sensors to no avail. also got a 5e19 can dme/dde fault. cleared codes and the only code to remain that would not clear is 5DF5 steuergeraet. we will be doing further diagnosis tomorrow and updating as we go.

going to test some rear speed sensors from a known good donor car if that fails we will do a pinout of the ABS module and see if we can open up and check for weak solder points.

Abs, Traction control, Red brake Light

sorry for the delay. I was not able to access abs and resolder anything but we did test speed sensors and looked at live data in the ABS module. We also ran a cluster test found the MPH to be 1MPH high and when doing a light test on and off the abs and trac light will NOT turn OFF. also pulled codes from IPC that the OP has on his phone i believe. found a small leak in the FR sunroof drain AREA also found a short in the sunroof switch/harness and when the short is "activated" so to say the headlights will completely go out. sunroof does otherwise operate fine. all door locks and windows/switches are flawless.

The above images all seem to be DME related and do not seem to be relevant to the issue. But you also mentioned codes 5df5 and 5DB0? The first is an internal fault with the DSC module and the second with the left rear speed sensor circuit. Have you got live data from it too? This is a freeze frame of a speed sensor soft failing - enough to cause all 3 lights to come on
