KNIERIEM

William J. Knieriem, 88, of Meyersdale, peacefully entered Heaven on Jan. 5, 2021, at Meadow View Nursing Center, Berlin. He was born Oct. 28, 1932, in Meyersdale, the son of Ray and Alice (Lint) Knieriem. Preceded in death by his parents; brothers: Samuel, Irvin, and Eugene Knieriem; infant brother Paul; and great-granddaughter Ruby Jo Weigle. He is survived by his wife, Evelyn Marie (Shuck) Knieriem, whom he was married to for 67 years; children: David (Bonnie) Knieriem, Wayne (Ginny) Knieriem, all of Meyersdale, Sandra (Roger) King, Markleton, and Linda (Charles) Heining, Somerset; grandchildren: Ginger Ackerman, Brandy (Michael) Paulman, Jeremy (Heather) Knieriem, Joshua Knieriem, Bradley Knieriem, Brianna Knieriem, Brooke (Corey) Kindler, Benjamin (Amber) King, Sarah (Steve) Skeba, Mandy Freas and Jessica Freas; great-grandchildren: Katrina, Gracie, Gavin, Aiden, Harper, Trenton, Kyle, Job, Carter, Maci, Bryce, Sophia, Lucias and Evelyn. He is a graduate of Meyersdale Area Schools and Penn State University and served in the United States Army. He taught school for two years then was called back to the family farm and he and his wife milked dairy cows and raised their family. During his lifetime, he served on numerous boards and committees giving of his knowledge and wisdom to help wherever he could. After retirement, he enjoyed working in his wood shop making various projects for his family and friends. His greatest passion was his faith. He was a longtime devoted member of the Hostetler Church of the Brethren where he was a deacon, board member and taught Sunday school for 55 years. He would often play his guitar and sing for his church family. He truly loved His Lord and read his Bible daily. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and friend. He is genuinely loved and will be greatly missed by all. The family gratefully thanks Somerset In-Touch Hospice and staff for their wonderful care of William as well as Meadow View Nursing Center while he was there. Due to COVID-19 concerns, a private funeral service will be held for the family at Hostetler Church of the Brethren, with the Rev. Irvin Ernst officiating. Interment Hostetler Church Cemetery.
