Anyone may experience crises as a result of external strains and events such as deaths, separations, accidents, acts of violence, or changes in life circumstances. In this practice-oriented manual with numerous case examples, the most common crisis theories are first explained. In further chapters, the potential dangers of crises are discussed and a systematic presentation of the methodology and potential applications of crisis intervention is provided. This second edition has been expanded to include chapters on e-mail counselling in crises and on crisis intervention for people with a migration background.
