The sensational Mae West stars in this somewhat lurid vanity musical based on her own play. Six former husbands hover around a rich heiress on her honeymoon. This was Mae West's last film, made when she was in her eighties.
This release by Rhino is full frame with washed out color and mediocre image (not sharp) and contains no extras. If you can find the scorpion release it is clear, letterboxed with special features - buy it!!!! The film itself is boring except when mae is in the scene - I would recommend it only for Mae West fans (of which I am one). It is her last film (dare I say how old she is?) but she still delivers her one-liners with relish. The best scene is when she meets the muscle boys and gymnastics and singing "Happy Birthday 21" (it is really the one full songs she delivers in the film. As I said the plot is stupid, the acting dull. If Mae wasn't in it it would rate zero.
Ok, I know the thought of an 85 year old woman as a Sex Symbol that everyone is still drooling over is a bit over the top...BUT, you must admit who else at that age could even remotely pull it off? No one other than MAE WEST!
The story line is not a bad concept - just a bit goofy and predictable. You watch this movie to see Mae doing and saying the things she did for over 40 years in film. You watch this movie to see a self made woman who changed the movie industry, redefined sex and saved a motion picture studio from bankruptcy. You watch it as this is Mae's last film and you are a Mae West fan. An amazing cast who enjoyed working with Mae and costumes designed by Edith Head (as she did for Mae in all her films).
See it for what it is not what you want it to be.
Well, this was Miss.West's last film and tho kinnda thin she's GREAT rember she's the girl that worked for PARAMOUNT ALL DAY and FOX ALL NIGHT!!!..I will forever be blown away by her looks!!!!...her skin was like porclin her hair like silk....MAE WAS THE GREATEST FILM STAR TO EVER LIVE!!!AND TO NEVER BE FORGOTTEN!!!!!!!!!
-Also a big thanks to Ben your a great guy!!!!!
Thanks~Tyler
The movie has a great cast. That's the only good thing I can say about it. The only reason to see (or get) this movie is if you're a die-hard fan of someone in the movie - for me it was Alice Cooper; and of course he didn't come on until there very end of the movie!
