With the amended Climate Protection and Climate Change Adaptation Act, the state government of Baden-Württemberg has committed to updating the adaptation strategy from 2015 in 2023 due to changing climatic conditions. Additional monitoring reports every five years on the status of implementation and impact of key adaptation measures. The update of the adaptation strategy includes up-to-date vulnerability assessments for a total of eleven fields of action. A catalog of measures uses more than 100 fact sheets to show how we can prevent and counter potential negative impacts of climate change in the country.
Ecologic Institute provided editorial and graphical support for the update of the adaptation strategy in Baden-Württemberg. Using graphical elements and a well-designed reader guidance, the reading orientation was improved and the visual quality of the document was increased. Central graphical elements for the different fields of action of the adaptation strategy were created, e.g. an overview of impacts of nature based solutions and climate effects on agriculture. In addition to the graphic design, Ecologic Institute provided support for the drafting of several chapters, e.g. on climate change impacts, summarized sectoral adaptation challenges and developed an abridged version of the update of the adaptation strategy.
