A trailer for the game released on Friday, and as my colleague Paul Tassi said, it looks like a cross between Grand Theft Auto and The Fast and the Furious. Take a look for yourself:

After watching the trailer, are you hot, cold or indifferent about this upcoming release? Vote in the poll.

There could be an intriguing story here, but it can be difficult to immerse gamers into a narrative or characters within a driving game. Quite honestly, the trailer makes me wish there's some aspect of the gameplay that takes place outside of the car.

It's hard to stay connected to a character–even if the cutscenes are fabulous–when you're only controlling the driving. Hopefully, NFS: Payback surprises us with some out-of-the-car action (which seems unlikely) or does such a great job driving its story home and melding it with the audio and action on the streets that everything comes together nicely.

Still, at this very early stage of the game, color me indifferent.
