It took a while but it looks like the remastered Metal Wolf Chaos XD will be finally released this August.

Originally an Xbox game released in Japan back in 2004, Metal Wolf Chaos has garnered a lot of attention in the time since.

This is because as mecha games go, in this one you get to play as the President of the U.S.A. in suitably potent power armor.

In many ways, Metal Wolf Chaos would lay the groundwork for the later Armored Core games, notably that of Armored Core V and Armored Core Verdict Day, as the mecha in the game were quite small in stature but able to equip enormously powerful weapons.

It was this over the top nature of the combat, as well as the insane dialogue, that made the original game such a fan favorite.

So I am glad that this remaster will finally allow the original game to find a wider audience.

My only criticism of the game footage in the new trailer (shown below) is that much of the lighting and bloom related effects from the original Xbox version seemed to have been very toned down here.

The result is a game that looks quite flat and a bit dull visually, though from a functional standpoint it does look like the gameplay has been retained.

In any case, Metal Wolf Chaos XD will be out on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC on August 6, so get ready to take on the Fight House in all its glory.
